Abstract: An overcase for needle packages is disclosed. The overcase includes a U-shaped bottom member and a U-shaped cover member. These members are slidably engaged with their respective shanks offset by 90.degree.. The shanks of the cover include depressed central panels which form guide surfaces. Cooperating guide shoulders are formed on the shanks of the bottom member. The lower ends of the cover member shanks carry projections engageable in recesses formed in the bottom member.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing sewing machine needles from a cylindrical length of wire by compression molding, comprising the steps of selecting the length of the wire substantially corresponding to two of the needles to be manufactured and a diameter of the wire corresponding to the thickness of a butt of the needles to be manufactured, the length being equal substantially to two coaxial connected needle blanks of one-piece for the needles to be manufactured, simultaneously working the two needle blanks to form the two needles, with the two needle blanks being worked such that the butts respectively face each other, by the steps of forming the blanks approximately to a final cross-sectional dimension of the two needles to be manufactured over their shanks and sections between the butts and shanks while leaving the butts of the two needles facing each other back to back and pressing grooves in the wire from transversely convexly curved outer surfaces of the wire within a region of the shanks, while simultaneously

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the manufacture of sewing machine needles from a cylindrical length of wire by form pressing a length of wire having a diameter which corresponds to the thickness of the needle butt, the wire is reduced to approximately the final cross sectional dimension over at least the length of the needle shank and the shoulder. The thread grooves are pressed in from the curved outer surfaces of the length of wire within the region of the needle shank. The reduction in cross section is effected by pressing opposite cross sections of wire material to form laterally protruding flat burrs. In between the flat burrs are transverse convex curved outer surfaces which lie within the final diameter. This intermediate form of the needle closely resembles its complete final shape. Several needle blanks, in particular two needle blanks, are attached together in the region of their points for simultaneous form pressing.

Abstract: A device for transporting bar-shaped workpieces, particularly blanks for sewing machine needles, between the stop positions of a follow-on tool, includes one or more transport spindles extending over the length of the follow-on tool and having a threaded section arranged for form-locked engagement with the workpiece, the threaded section being interrupted by a lead-less section in the region of a predetermined stop position, the lead-less section extending over an angle corresponding to a predetermined stop time.

Abstract: A packing receptacle for sewing machine needles, with an upper part constructed in the form of a flat cap, in its opening which is provided on one side, a stay-shaped lower part is positively clampingly inserted, the lower part carrying the needles, the latter being inserted in row-form adjacent one another, such that a partial surface of the stay-shaped lower part is exposed as a consequence of gripping recesses provided in the cap-shaped upper part. One of the side walls of the cap-shaped upper part projects over the opening-sided edge of the other side wall surface. The latter side wall has a slot, which slot connects to the gripping recess.

Abstract: A dispenser for sewing machine needles or the like comprising an upper part and a lower part. The lower part formed circularly is provided with reception shafts for sewing needles, which reception shafts are arranged secant-like. The upper part is mounted rotatably on the lower part. The upper part has an edge closing the front-sided push-in cross-section of the reception shafts, the edge being formed with a removal opening rotatable respectively in front of the push-in cross-section of the shafts.
