  • Patent number: 6964710
Abstract: A method for cleaning of a measuring element (1) passed over by a gas flow is arranged on a thin-walled membranous material (5). The measuring element (1) includes at least one heatable element (6, 7, 8; 10, 11), which is arranged on the membranous material, the membranous material being capable of vibrating. By means of a control apparatus (20) or a switching (22) associated with the measuring element, a periodic delivery of current (41, 42) in intervals takes place in this manner to at least one heatable element (6, 7, 8; 10, 11) of the measuring element (1) and thereby produces vibrations. Alternatively, vibrations of the membranous material (5) can be produced by special vibration exciters or by means of ultrasonic coupling.

  • Publication number: 20040219207
Abstract: A drug composition for the prevention and the therapy of neurodegenerative diseases (for example ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke, focal and global ischemia, amyotrophic lateral slerosis (ALS), Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Hunntington's disease, multiple sclerosis). The combination of effective agents comprises at least two of the following substances: &agr;-lipoic acid; ambroxol and one or several inhibitor(s) of the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). It could surprisingly be found in the experiments on which the invention is based that neuronal cells which are particularly sensitive to degenerative insults, have less free constitutional thiol groups than have other cells of the central nervous system (CNS). It was demonstrated that this reduced content of free thiol groups is causally connected to the damaging of those cells after a degenerative event.

  • Patent number: 6689179
Abstract: Devices for measuring at least one parameter of a medium flowing in a line, having an inlet conduit an outlet conduit, having the disadvantage in the prior art that liquids flowing into the inlet conduit can reach a measurement element and alter the measurement characteristic curve behavior of the measurement element. A device of the invention has, between the inlet conduit and outlet conduit, a deflection conduit with a separation element, by which the liquids are separated out and therefore do not reach the measurement element.

  • Patent number: 6642999
Abstract: A method and device for analyzing and quantifying flows for the three-dimensional determination of flow velocity components or the visualization of flows in fluids or gases. An illuminating device generates electromagnetic radiation of a predefined color to scan a detection space in the form of light planes arranged spatially one behind the other that are at least roughly parallel, and that are generated temporally one after the other. As a result, electromagnetic waves are generated in the detection space by particles characterizing the flow, and are detected using at least one image detector which records two-dimensional color images. The frequency, frequency spectrum, and/or intensity detected by at the least one of the image detectors is changed by an as a function of time.
