Patent number: 7690277Abstract: A device for starting an internal combustion engine for hand-held tools, chainsaws, lawnmowers, trimmers and the like, includes a rotatable pulling medium roller which can be brought into functional connection with the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine in order to bring about a rotation of the crankshaft. The starting device has a simply configured functional connection between the crankshaft and the pulling medium roller and effectively reduces the force peaks reaching the pulling medium roller. To accomplish this, a deformation body having elastic deformation behaviour is arranged in the functional connection between the pulling medium roller and the crankshaft. The deformation body compensates for leading or lagging of the crankshaft with respect to the pulling medium roller.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2008Date of Patent: April 6, 2010Assignee: Dolmar GmbHInventors: Christian Kellermann, Klemens Krahn

Patent number: 7028658Abstract: A starting device is provided for an internal combustion engine, in particular a pull-rope type starting device for a two-stroke or four-stroke motor. The starting device includes a pulley or rope drum which is rotatably held in a housing, and generates the drive torque for a motor shaft by means of a starter handle or pull handle. The starting device is rotatable by way of a load transfer means, in particular by way of a starter rope or pull-rope, and by way of an elastic coupling element, in particular by way of a spiral spring. A ratchet-type engaging element is provided, by means of which the drive torque can be transmitted to the motor shaft, such that not only is overloading of the elastic coupling element prevented in a safe and reliable manner, but also, even if the elastic coupling element should break, the starting still functions, and the internal combustion engine can still be started.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2004Date of Patent: April 18, 2006Assignee: DOLMAR GmbHInventors: Olaf Kruse, Klemens Krahn

Patent number: 6490795Abstract: A chain medium pump (20) for a motor chain saw (10) is made disconnectable in a simple manner, the chain medium pump (20) sucking the chain medium over a suction pipe (29) from a tank (22) and delivering it over a pressure pipe (27) to a sawing device (12) of the motor chain saw (10), by the fact that, for disconnecting the supply of the sawing device (12) with the chain medium, there exist controllable means (23-26) with which the pressure pipe (27) is interrupted, the chain medium pump (20) being running, and simultaneously the chain medium delivered by the chain medium pump (20) can be returned into the suction pipe (29).Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2000Date of Patent: December 10, 2002Assignee: Dolmar GmbHInventor: Klemens Krahn
