  • Patent number: 4961705
Abstract: A fluidized-bed reactor composed of modular steel castings is assembled from a support frame, a sliding frame and reactor housing segments on the frames so as to be able to withstand the temperatures and temperature gradients to which the reactor may be subject.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 9, 1990
Date of Patent: October 9, 1990
    Assignee: Bergwerksverband GmbH
    Inventors: Peter Schulz, Knut Vaupel
  • Patent number: 4622008
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for the regeneration of adsorbent particles containing carbon in which the particles are introduced into downwardly moving shafts of a fluidized quartz sand bed spaced along a regenerator and are then deflected downwardly at the bottoms of the shaft by rhomboidal guide segments. The regenerated particles are withdrawn in a gas stream from above the bed and the gas is separated from the particles.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 7, 1984
Date of Patent: November 11, 1986
    Assignee: Bergwerksverband GmbH
Inventors: Peter Schulz, Jurgen Klein, Knut Vaupel
  • Patent number: 4592837
Abstract: Solids from a liquid containing heavy metals are filtered by first degassing the solids-laden liquid and then subjecting the degassed liquid to sedimentation to remove large particles and subsequently intermediate size particles. The suspension of fine particles is then passed in counterflow to a moving bed of granulate, especially black peat, to which the particles tend to adhere externally and internally. Clear liquid is removed from the top of the moving bed and the granulate is washed after being withdrawn from the bottom of the bed and is recycled to the moving bed.

Date of Patent: June 3, 1986

  • Patent number: 4518286
Abstract: A slurry of solid particles suspended in water or some other liquid is elevated in a riser tube, extending upward from a closed vessel, under hydraulic pressure from the same liquid descending into the vessel from a hydrostatic column whose height is less than that of the riser tube; liquid exiting at the top of that tube is recirculated to the vessel through the column after being freed from the accompanying solids. The excess height of the riser tube is made possible by the admission of bubbles of air or some other gas into the tube at its lower end. Fresh particles to be entrained by the rising liquid are fed into the closed vessel via a gated conduit maintaining the hydrostatic pressure therein.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 1, 1983
Date of Patent: May 21, 1985
    Assignee: Bergwerksverband GmbH
    Inventors: Knut Vaupel, Peter Schulz
  • Patent number: 4402143
Abstract: A bottom for a fluidized bed conveyor is composed of a plurality of members provided with openings and located in contact with each other so that their points of contact are gas impermeable at least during operation of a fluidized bed. The openings may be formed as circumferentially closed holes and/or as laterally open recesses. The members may laterally abut against each other, or may be provided with interengaging lateral projections. The members may be located so that at cold temperatures small intermediate spaces remain therebetween, which spaces are closed during operation as a result of thermal expansion of the members under the action of high working temperatures. Bracing element or elements may be provided which urge the members toward one another.

Date of Patent: September 6, 1983
