  • Patent number: 9781254
Abstract: A system, computer readable medium, and method are provided for training a serial communication link to perform crosstalk cancellation. The method includes the steps of, for each crosstalk channel of one or more crosstalk channels, transmitting a training sequence over a crosstalk channel, estimating a phase offset associated with the crosstalk channel, and selecting a set of symbol response coefficients. The method further includes steps for configuring the serial communication link to perform crosstalk cancellation utilizing the selected set of symbol response coefficients and, for each crosstalk channel, updating the selected set of symbol response coefficients every number of Baud durations corresponding to the crosstalk channel.

  • Patent number: 7904496
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for determining effective tap values for a digital filter. A first plurality of vectors is generated, wherein each of the first plurality of vectors represents a set of tap values for the filter at a first resolution. A best vector is selected from the first plurality of vectors according to a first performance metric. A second plurality of vectors is generated within a threshold distance of the selected best vector, wherein each of the second plurality of vectors represents a set of tap values for the filter at a second resolution that is superior to the first resolution. A best vector is selected from the second plurality of vectors according to a second performance metric.

  • Patent number: 7773560
Abstract: The invention provides systems, devices, and methods for frequency hopping. In one method embodiment, the invention hops between frequencies by using the same channel to transmit data from a master to a slave, and from the slave to the master. One system embodiment provides an enhanced master coupled to an enhanced slave. In one device embodiment, the invention is a computer readable medium adapted to enable frequency hopping in a frequency band.

  • Publication number: 20080159448
Abstract: System and method for canceling crosstalk in high-speed communications systems. An embodiment comprises precomputing channel pulse responses for a set of communications channels in a communications backplane, precomputing channel signal responses for the set of communications channels in the backplane with a training sequence, estimating noise coefficients using receiver training and the training sequence, storing noise coefficients for each communications channel in the set of communications channels, and canceling noise in a received transmission of a data sequence using the stored noise coefficients. The regularity of the communications backplane enables the precomputing of various values, which reduces computational requirements. Furthermore, it is often the case that a victim receiver has access to the digital data that is being transmitted by its dominant crosstalking transmitters, thereby simplifying noise cancellation.

  • Patent number: 7236511
Abstract: The invention generally provides a method of intelligent frequency hopping such as in Bluetooth and Home RF networks. The method (100) includes the acts of sampling a plurality of channels in a frequency band and identifying each channel as a good channels or a bad channel (110), determining the size of a good window and the size of a bad window (120), and assigning a plurality of good channels to a good window (130) and a plurality of bad channels to a bad window (140). Accordingly, the method increases the reliability and throughput of wireless networks.

  • Patent number: 7116699
Abstract: The invention generally provides a method of intelligent frequency hopping such as in Bluetooth and Home RF networks. The method (400) includes the acts of generating windows (410), sampling an original frequency (430), determining if the original frequency is of a desired frequency type (440), using the original frequency when the original frequency is the desired frequency type (460), and mapping the frequency to the desired frequency type when the original frequency is not the desired frequency type (450). Accordingly, the method increases the reliability and throughput of wireless networks.

  • Publication number: 20030003881
Abstract: By using switches (110) that are synchronously controlled, the present invention permits connection of a plurality of antennae (130) to a plurality of radio front end units (radios 120) so that at any time any of the radios (120) may be assigned to any of the antennae (130) without leaving any radio (120) unconnected. A controller (140) arbitrarily assigns, at any time, any of the radios (120) to any of the antennae (130) while keeping every radio (120) connected to an antenna (130).
