  • Patent number: 11518444
Abstract: The present invention provides a front end structure in which cooling performance can be improved. A front end structure according to an aspect of the present invention includes a frame portion 41 that surrounds an outer circumferential part of a heat exchanger and supports the heat exchanger; a duct portion 42 that is connected to an inner circumferential edge of the frame portion 41 and guides outside air, which is taken in through a first introduction port 61, in at least an up-down direction through a space between the duct portion 42 and a front surface of the heat exchanger; and a division portion 43 that is provided in at least one of the frame portion 41 and the duct portion 42 and partitions the heat exchanger into a heat exchange area in which outside air is able to pass through in a front-rear direction and a support area which is positioned on a side circumferentially outward from the heat exchange area and is supported by the frame portion 41.

  • Patent number: 11420684
Abstract: What is provided is a front end structure which can secure a strength and rigidity of a frame portion and reduce a weight thereof. The front end structure includes a frame portion (45), a vehicle body mounting portion (46), and a duct portion (42). The frame portion is formed to cover outer peripheral portions of a radiator and a condenser disposed in front of the vehicle body. The vehicle body mounting portion is provided on the frame portion and is connected to a front end of a front side frame (23) which extends in a forward and rearward direction of a vehicle body. The duct portion is continuous with the front end of the frame portion, and at least a part thereof is disposed above the vehicle body mounting portion and forms a continuous flow path between the duct portion and the condenser in a vertical direction. The frame portion, the vehicle body mounting portion, and the duct portion are integrally formed.

  • Patent number: 5716155
Abstract: The present invention relates to a T-shaped connection frame for connecting car frames, in which a first member is connected to a second member via a joint member to form a "T." The joint member is formed by symmetrically dividing a rectangular tube between its two latch teeth located at the upper-center and lower-center inner walls. The rectangular tube also has protrusions at the left and right exterior walls. The joint member divided in this way has the latch teeth at the upper and lower tips of the mouth formed by the division and has the protrusion situated opposite the mouth so that the first member can be snapped on easily to this mouth and the second member can be attached to the protrusion at the opposite side. This structural arrangement makes the positioning of the frames very simple, obviates a make-shift attachment, and, at the same time, reduces the number of operation steps.

  • Patent number: 5591359
Abstract: The first and second weld areas of respective first and second metallic workpieces of aluminum or aluminum alloy are held in abutment against each other with a surface of the second metallic workpiece being positioned on a positioning guide of the first metallic workpiece. A recess is defined between the positioning guide and the second metallic workpiece. A high-density energy beam such as a laser beam is applied to the first and second weld areas thereby to develop a molten pool therein that grows toward the positioning guide until metallic oxide films formed on the first and second metallic workpieces are forced into the recess by the molten pool. As no metallic oxide films are present in a weld joint between the first and second metallic workpieces, the resultant welded structure is of a high mechanical strength.
