Patent number: 9024886Abstract: Provided is a touch-panel device capable of detecting a touched position with high accuracy even when a touched area extends off an electrode area. In one embodiment, the touched area is assumed to be, for example, circular in shape. A width in an X direction (overlap width) and a width in a Y direction (overlap width) of an overlap area where the touched area in a circular shape and an electrode area overlap each other is determined based on sensor measured values. When the overlap width and the overlap width are different from each other, it is judged that the touched area extends off the electrode area, and a position of a center of the touched area in the circular shape is calculated as the touched position.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2010Date of Patent: May 5, 2015Assignees: Japan Display Inc., Panasonic Liquid Crystal Display Co., Ltd.Inventors: Koji Doi, Norio Mamba, Koji Nagata, Toshiyuki Kumagai, Koji Hayakawa

Patent number: 8922522Abstract: Provided is a display device equipped with a touch panel, including a front panel arranged above a capacitive touch panel at a predetermined distance away therefrom, in which the touch panel includes a plurality of X electrodes and a plurality of Y electrodes, and the X electrodes are sequentially applied with pulse signals and the Y electrodes receive the pulse signals. When an arbitrary point on the front panel is touched, the touch panel computes a touched point on the touch panel by using both the received pulse signals obtained from the Y electrodes in a case where the front panel is not deformed and the received pulse signals obtained from the Y electrodes in a case where the front panel is deformed. With this, an erroneous operation in which a measurement value is lowered to finally disappear is prevented.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2011Date of Patent: December 30, 2014Assignees: Japan Display Inc., Panasonic Liquid Crystal Display Co., Ltd.Inventors: Toshiaki Atsuta, Koji Nagata, Koji Doi

Patent number: 8542213Abstract: In a touched position detection method for a touch panel for detecting a touched position, based on measured values by a plurality of sensors, presence of a touch is determined when a measured value by a sensor exceeds a touch threshold. As a touch threshold, a value which cannot be attained due to a mere noise but can due to presence of a touch is set. With respect to sensors located in the vicinity of a sensor showing a high measured value, a higher weighted value is applied to modify a measured value in a touched position calculation process than that to be applied to other sensors.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2009Date of Patent: September 24, 2013Assignees: Hitachi Displays, Ltd., Panasonic Liquid Crystal Display Co., Ltd.Inventors: Koji Doi, Norio Mamba, Koji Nagata, Toshiyuki Kumagai, Koji Hayakawa, Toshiaki Atsuta
