  • Patent number: 7996135
Abstract: The present invention provides a starter capable of keeping a state where a pinion and a ring gear maintain meshing with each other when an engine stops without providing a plunger stopper using a solenoid or the like. The state where the pinion and the ring gear maintain meshing with each other in the engine stop mode continues by movement resistance which occurs when a torque transmission member moves. Concretely, an inclination angle of a helical spline in a helical spline engagement part is set so that the above state continues. The helical spline engagement part is a part where a helical spline on the outer periphery of an output shaft of a starter motor and a helical spline on the inner periphery of the torque transmission member mesh with each. Consequently, the above state continues without a plunger stopper using a solenoid or the like.

  • Publication number: 20110187171
Abstract: A vehicle seat reclining device comprises a slider, which has an engaging portion and rotatable portions, and a rail having engagable portions. The engaging portion is retractable from the rail during a backrest tilting operation and advances towards the rail to lock the backrest in a selected tilted position. The engagable portions engage with the advanced engaging portion to prevent sliding of the slider relative to the rail. Clearances are provided between the rail and the slider in a width direction that is orthogonal to a rotational axis defined in the engaging portion. The width direction is also orthogonal to the central axial line of the rail. The rotatable portions project from the slider in a radial direction from the rotational axis and narrow the clearances so as to guide the rotation of the slider relative to the rail around the rotational axis.

  • Patent number: 7788479
Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for ensuring that only randomly generated numbers that have passed a test is used for cryptographic purposes are provided. When a random number is generated, it undergoes a built-in self-test (BIST). If the number passes the test, it is forwarded to a cryptographic device to be used for cryptographic purposes. If the number does not pass the test, a signal is instead forwarded to the cryptographic device to indicate the failure of the test. In a particular embodiment, only one data line is used to forward either the randomly generated number or the signal. A selector is used to facilitate the selection between the number and the signal.

  • Patent number: 7715139
Abstract: A write head, which is positioned by reading a servo pattern with a read head, writes data on even tracks of a magnetic disc, and then writes data on odd tracks. Then a read head is positioned on a read position and sequentially reads all the written data. As a result, it is decided whether a read error has occurred. Further, positional deviation of the tracks, in which the read error occurs, is measured.

  • Patent number: 7602574
Abstract: In a storage medium to which information is recorded by using a write head of an inductive type, in addition to a servo section in which servo information is recorded and a data section to which data is to be written, a write training section on which training write of pseudo-data is to be performed is disposed on a recording track. When the temperature is low, a write control unit writes the pseudo-data to the write training area and then writes data to the data area. By writing the pseudo-data to the write training area, a write core is heated and caused to project toward the medium surface side by thermal expansion, and the writing ability is enhanced; then, the data is written to the data section. A write training section is also disposed in front of a data section in a track of a system area of the storage medium, and, when the temperature is low, and when system information is to be written to the data section of the system area, pseudo-data is written to the write training section.
