Abstract: An EGR valve for adjusting the flow rate of exhaust gas recirculated into an intake passage connected to an intake port of a cylinder in an engine and adapted to feed air therethrough into the cylinder through the intermediary of a compressor housing of a turbo-supercharger, is incorporated in an EGR passage connecting the intake passage with an exhaust passage connected to an exhaust port of the cylinder and adapted to discharge exhaust gas from the cylinder into the atmosphere through the intermediary of a turbine housing of the turbo-supercharger, that is, the above-mentioned EGR valve and EGR passage constitute an external EGR device. Further, the engine is provided with an internal EGR device for opening an exhaust valve so as to introduce exhaust gas from the exhaust passage into the cylinder during intake stroke of the cylinder. The EGR valve is controlled by a controller in accordance with detection outputs from a speed sensor and a load sensor.

Abstract: A retaining plate is disposed along and spaced apart by a predetermined distance from the surface of a noise source in an automotive vehicle component so as not to be displaced away from the surface of the noise source. A sheet-like elastic member is compressedly interposed between the noise source and the retaining plate. As a result, the effect of reducing the noise due to vibration is attained without substantially increasing the weight of the automotive vehicle components and without adversely affecting the sealability and other performances required to the components.
