  • Patent number: 6944717
Abstract: Methods for controlling and storing data in a cache buffer in a storage apparatus having a nonvolatile memory medium are disclosed. Memory cells are logically divided into a plurality of pages. An open status is registered in a counter for each page that has at least some (and usually all) memory cells available to store new data. A full status is registered in the counter for each page that does not have memory cells that are available to store new data. New data is stored in pages having the open status in the counter. The pages can be weighted according to the read command rate and prioritized for reading and writing purposes.

  • Patent number: 6889400
Abstract: The cleaning member for a medical tube is shaped like a spherical body having a porous fibrous structure formed of a large number of superfine fibers aggregated and intertwined three-dimensionally. The spherical body moves along a lumen surface of the medical tube together with a cleaning liquid, with the cleaning member wiping and cleaning the lumen surface of the medical tube. The porous member for cleaning the treatment appliance insertion lumen of the endoscope is formed approximately spherically by molding a large number of superfine fibers. The porous member can be swelled with an aqueous cleaning liquid. When the porous member swells, the outer diameter of the porous member becomes larger than the inner diameter of a treatment appliance insertion lumen of an endoscope to be cleaned. Further because the porous member deforms, the porous member can be inserted into the treatment appliance insertion lumen of the endoscope.

  • Patent number: 6609993
Abstract: A planet carrier mechanism for a planetary gearset is provided to resolve the problems caused by welding during the manufacture of planet carrier mechanisms. The planet carrier mechanism meshes with a sun gear and a ring gear in a planetary gearset and can also rotate about a axial center. It is equipped with a plurality of planet gears 14, a pair of carrier members 16, 17, and a plurality of stud pins 18. The pair of carrier members 16, 17 are disposed on both sides of the planet gears 14 in the axial direction and serve to support the planet gears 14 such that the planet gears can rotate about an axis. The plurality of stud pins 18 is disposed between the plurality of the planet gears 14 with respect to the direction in which the planetary gearset rotates about its axis. Both ends of the stud pins are fixed by caulking to the pair of carrier members 16, 17.

  • Publication number: 20030041214
Abstract: Data to be retrieved from a non-volatile storage medium is identified by considering previously stored cache data in a cache buffer is disclosed. When a request for data is received from a host, the requested data is ear-marked for retrieval, with a desired amount of pre-read data and a desired amount of pre-fetch or read-ahead data. It is then determined whether any of the data is already in the cache buffer, and how much of a gap, if any, exists between the desired data and that already stored in the cache buffer. If some of the data is already in cache, then a controller has to satisfy the read request with a single continuous retrieval of data from the storage medium, such that the data as stored in the cache buffer is not interrupted by gaps within the cache buffer. In this manner, buffer usage rate is increased while maintaining the same cache hit rate in a particular access pattern to evaluate hard disk drive performance.
