  • Patent number: 10149245
Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a wireless LAN control unit which performs a wireless communication, a power mode setting unit which accepts a setting instruction for setting a power saving mode to be OFF or ON from a user, and a power saving mode setting storage unit which holds a setting that is set for the power saving mode, and a table storing a setting for turning the power saving mode off/on in association with a protocol used in a wireless communication. In case the power mode setting unit holds the setting for setting the power saving mode to be ON, the information processing apparatus controls whether or not to turn on the power saving mode based on a protocol used in the wireless communication and a setting of the power saving mode stored in the table in association with that protocol.

  • Patent number: 9716800
Abstract: An image reading apparatus in which a session timeout does not take place in a case where user's confirmation is obtained before image data obtained by reading originals is transmitted. Before transmission of image data, a control unit determines whether a protocol having a time out is selected. If the selected protocol has a timeout, the control unit determines whether a memory is in a memory full state each time image data of one page is stored into the memory. If the memory is in a memory full state, the user is requested to confirm as to whether transmission is to be performed. If the necessity of transmission is confirmed by the user, the control unit establishes a session with a destination and transmits image data of pages stored in the memory to the destination.

  • Patent number: 9405760
Abstract: An information processing apparatus capable of reliably accessing files associated with file identification information generated based on more character code systems, without necessitating a large-capacity memory. When the information processing apparatus (MFP) acquires file identification information, a CPU of the MFP determines whether or not the MFP is capable of performing processing based on a predetermined character code system used for describing the identification information. When the MFP is not capable of performing processing based on the character code system, the CPU converts the identification information described in the predetermined character code system into substitute character codes processable thereby. Then, the CPU registers the substitute character codes and the original character codes before the conversion in a map table in association with each other.

  • Patent number: 9185242
Abstract: An image reading apparatus requests an external apparatus to transmit a reading instruction. When reading the document according to the reading instruction transmitted from the external apparatus in response to the request, if a reading method for reading the document placed on a document positioning plate without conveying the document is used, the image reading apparatus displays, every time one page of the document is read, a confirmation screen for allowing a user to confirm whether to end reading the document irrespective of whether a format of a single-page file is specified or where a format of a multi-page file is specified as a format of a file to be generated from the read document.

  • Patent number: 9077830
Abstract: An image forming apparatus capable of performing excellent image formation with a reduced amount of data transfer. The image forming apparatus has a plurality of image processing functions. The image forming apparatus is connectable to an external apparatus having a plurality of image processing functions. The image forming apparatus transmits information indicative of selected at least one image processing function thereof and selected at least one image processing function of the information processing apparatus, to the information processing apparatus. When information indicative of an image processing function to be provided by the information processing apparatus on behalf of the image processing apparatus is received as a result of determination performed by the information processing apparatus based on the transmitted information and predetermined conditions, the image forming apparatus is controlled not to use the image processing function.

  • Patent number: 8482773
Abstract: The invention relates to an image reading apparatus and to a method of controlling this apparatus. The image reading apparatus acquires a profile capable of being set as processing applied to image data in an information processing device, re-classifies, for the purpose of display on the image reading apparatus, the name of the acquired profile and the settings of the profile, converts this profile name and the settings to items displayed on a display unit of the image reading apparatus, and displays the items on the display unit. The information of a profile selected based upon an item displayed on the display unit is transmitted to the information processing device, and the image data generated by the image reading apparatus is transmitted to the information processing device in response to a request from the information processing device.
