Abstract: A device and a method are provided for measuring the moisture in die cast molds, the cavity of which is connected via an evacuation conduit to an evacuation device. The modular assembly of the device is connectable to the evacuation conduit and includes a sensor assembly to measure the moisture of gases evacuated from the mold cavity. The sensor assembly includes an emitter emitting electromagnetic radiation and a detector detecting electromagnetic radiation. On the basis of the measured values obtained during the evacuation action it can be determined whether the amount of a water/release agent mixture jetted into the mold cavity needs to be altered before the actual casting action.

Abstract: A die casting mold evacuation valve assembly features a two-part valve casing. Machined in the front casing part is an evacuation duct closable by an evacuation valve. Housed in the casing is an actuator for actuating a valve piston of the evacuation valve. The actuator includes a casting material actuated force transducer and a force transmission member for transmitting the closing movement of the force transducer to the valve piston of the evacuation valve. The actuator features in addition a stacked spring assembly for returning the actuator and/or force ejecting the riser. The front casing part is provided with a sleeve surrounding at least a head part of the valve piston and/or a further sleeve surrounding at least the head part of the force transducer. Both sleeves are harder than the front casing part.

Abstract: A die casting mold evacuation valve assembly (1) features a two-part valve casing (2). Machined in the front casing part (2a) is an evacuation duct (3, 5) closable by means of an evacuation valve (7). Housed in the casing (2) is an actuator (14) for actuating a valve piston (8) of the evacuation valve (7). In addition, the casting device (1) comprises connected to the die cavity (4) a casting chamber (6), the outlet (9) of which can be closed off at least partially by means of a closure member (18,26). At least the one die half (3a) is provided with a vent passage (13) for evacuating the die cavity (4) and/or the casting chamber (6). The vent passage (13) ports into the die parting (12) of the one die half (3a) such that it can be closed off by the other die half (3b) when locking the die (3).
