Publication number: 20170180190Abstract: Handling of performance monitoring in a wireless communications system (100) comprising a transport network (150) relating to infrastructure for data transport in the wireless communications system (100). A management system (160) monitors (302, 401) one or more KPIs and detects (308, 402) that the monitored KPIs indicate a key performance degradation. Network elements (151-156) associated with the transport network (150), and those at least potentially are involved in causing the key performance degradation, are identified. The management system (160) sends one or more requests to the identified network elements (151-156). The one or more requests request the identified network elements (151-156) to perform performance measurements and report results thereof to the management system (160). The performance measurements comprise measurements regarding the transport network (150).Type: ApplicationFiled: February 10, 2014Publication date: June 22, 2017Inventors: Ferenc KUBINSZKY, Hans IHLSTRÖM, Àkos KOVÁCS

Publication number: 20150350043Abstract: A method is presented for connectivity checking and detection of connectivity failure, based on a modified Ethernet ARP address resolution mechanism to detect broken connectivity on physical, data-link and network layer between a first and a second node. The detection mechanism uses Periodical Gratuitous ARP messages (PGARP). PGARP messages are sent by a first node, the sender host or Issuer. On the other side of a data path is a second node, receiver host or Listener configured to detect lost connectivity by means of missing PGARP messages. The process on the Listener then informs subscribing services, host local, or remote, about the state of the connectivity.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 23, 2013Publication date: December 3, 2015Inventors: Ákos Kovács, Lars Johansson, Benny Sjöstrand

Publication number: 20150326867Abstract: A technique for controlling transmission of layer-encoded media frames via a radio interface to a user terminal is presented. The layer-encoding defines a decoding-dependency of the media frames in terms of, for example, a base layer and one or more enhancement layers. A method implementation of the technique comprises receiving layer-encoded media frames at a radio access network and determining, at the radio access network, the decoding-dependency and a media frame play-out sequence of the received media frames. The method further comprises identifying, from the media frame play-out sequence, a media frame for transmission via the radio interface and determining that the identified media frame is unavailable. In such a case, at least one media frame dependent from the unavailable media frame is identified from the media frame decoding-dependency, and the at least one dependent media frame is excluded from transmission via the radio interface.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 7, 2015Publication date: November 12, 2015Inventors: Àkos Kovács, István Gódor, Sándor Rácz

Patent number: 8125903Abstract: A method and arrangement in a wireless communication network for optimizing data rates when communicating layered multicast data. In an initial probing phase, the receiving capability of each user equipment (UE) in each cell is collected. The optimal data rate for each layer is then calculated and packets are transmitted to the UEs at the optimal rates. The UEs may periodically send updated receiving capabilities so that the optimal data rates can be updated. Additionally, the network may periodically obtain the updated receiving capabilities through secondary probing at unused data rates.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2006Date of Patent: February 28, 2012Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventors: István Gódor, Ákos Kovács

Publication number: 20110116491Abstract: In multimedia broadcast transmission a system a method and a device for improving transmission are provided. The optimization is achieved by the combination of a Virtual Time-Slice (VTS) solution within a broadcast service in which time-slice corresponding to a layered broadcast service and a feedback channel through a wireless access network. The VTS allows the system to set the layer content within a broadcast service time-slice according to the user's feedbacks. An optimization algorithm selects the appropriate number of enhancement layers mapped into VTSs. The users provide feedback information based on their own receiving capabilities or on subscription limitations. If a time-division multiplex multimedia broadcast network, e.g. DVB-H network is deployed next to the wireless access network, e.g. a 3G network, then these feedback information can be signaled via this network.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 23, 2008Publication date: May 19, 2011Inventors: Akos Kovacs, Istvan Godor
