Publication number: 20100246355Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a data processing unit configured to perform data processing on data read from a data recordable disc. The data processing unit performs a physical mark verification process for verifying whether or not a physical mark that is identification data unique to each of mother discs used when the disc was manufactured has been recorded on the disc, and a signature verification process for obtaining, from the disc, a token containing an electronic signature generated on the basis of a medium ID that is an identifier unique to each disc by a content providing server that provided the recorded content of the disc and for performing signature verification, and reproduces recorded content of the disc under a condition in which the recording of a physical mark in the physical mark verification process has been confirmed and signature verification in the signature verification process holds true.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 26, 2010Publication date: September 30, 2010Applicant: SONY CORPORATIONInventors: Kenjiro Ueda, Shoei Kobayashi, Katsumi Muramatsu, Kousuke Misono

Patent number: 6018613Abstract: A disc player, which reproduces information recorded on a disc, reinitializes the signal processing circuitry of the disc player when a disc is ejected from the player. As a result, the need for an exterior reset switch, which must be pressed to reinitialize the signal processing circuitry, can be eliminated.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1994Date of Patent: January 25, 2000Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Kiyoshi Ota, Kousuke Misono, Toshiyuki Ishii

Patent number: 5430553Abstract: An X-Y device and a pair of trigger switches provide user control of a disc reproducing apparatus that reproduces discs which include audio data, video data, or both audio and video data. The reproduced video data is presented on a display. The reproducing device determines whether audio data, video data, or both audio and video data are stored on the disc, and interprets commands generated by the X-Y device and the pair of trigger switches as commands to reproduce the audio data, the video data, or both the audio and video data, respectively, when the display is powered on. When the display is powered off, the reproducing apparatus interprets commands generated by the X-Y device and the pair of trigger switches as commands to reproduce only the audio data.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1993Date of Patent: July 4, 1995Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Kousuke Misono, Toshiyuki Ishii, Kiyoshi Ota

Patent number: 5331423Abstract: A disc player reproduces information recorded on a disc which has a disc type. Type identification circuitry determines the disc type of the disc. Reproduction circuitry reproduces the information stored on the disc. Disc ejection circuitry generates a disc ejecting signal when an externally-generated command is received. Control circuitry stops the reproduction circuitry in response to the disc ejecting signal. Reset circuitry initializes the disc reproduction circuitry when the disc ejecting signal is asserted and the type identification circuitry determines that the disc type is a first predetermined type, and inhibits the initialization of the disc reproduction circuitry when the disc ejecting signal is asserted and the type identification circuitry determines that the disc type is a second predetermined type. The disc type determined by the type identification circuitry can be stored in a memory.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1992Date of Patent: July 19, 1994Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Kiyoshi Ota, Kousuke Misono, Toshiyuki Ishii
