  • Patent number: 8501104
Abstract: An exhaust gas purification apparatus in which layout restriction is lessened to be able to further achieve space-saving is proposed. The exhaust gas purification apparatus includes a first cylindrical housing in which an oxidation catalytic converter and a PM collection filter are contained and a second cylindrical housing in which a reducing catalytic converter and an ammonia oxidation catalytic converter are contained. The exhaust gas purification apparatus further includes a communicating pipe that connects between far end portions of both the housings, and a nozzle that is disposed in the communicating pipe and injects liquid reducing agent in exhaust gas. The two housings are closely disposed such that axis lines thereof are arranged substantially parallel. The communicating pipe is disposed such that an axis line thereof is arranged substantially parallel with the axis lines of the housings.

  • Patent number: 8480962
Abstract: An engine exhaust gas purification apparatus for engine includes a mixing device for promoting mixing of a liquid reducing agent or a precursor thereof and exhaust gas is disposed at a position at which, when an engine is operating in a predetermined operating state, the liquid reducing agent or the precursor thereof injection-supplied from an injection nozzle impinges on substantially an entire surface of the mixing device. The predetermined operating state may be, for example, an operating state in which a solute tends to deposit from the liquid reducing agent or the precursor thereof. Thus, the liquid reducing agent or the precursor thereof adhering to the mixing device or an exhaust passage is reduced in absolute amount, thereby preventing that only a solvent evaporates from the liquid reducing agent or the precursor thereof adhering to the mixing device or the exhaust passage to deposit the solute.

  • Patent number: 8181446
Abstract: A reduction catalyst is disposed in an exhaust passage of an engine. A reducing agent added to the exhaust gas is urged to react with NOx in the exhaust gas, catalyzed by the reduction catalyst. A member for distributing the exhaust gas to which the reducing agent has been added is provided. This member is formed by applying of an axial welding and is disposed in the exhaust passage such that the internal surface of its joining portion is disposed to overhang from the topmost position of the joining portion.

  • Patent number: 7784273
Abstract: An exhaust emission purifying apparatus has a NOx reduction catalytic converter in an exhaust passage of an engine, for purifying nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas by reduction with urea aqueous solution; an injection nozzle injecting the urea solution toward an exhaust upstream side of the converter in the exhaust passage; and fins disposed on an exhaust upstream side of an injection position of the urea solution in the injection nozzle, for generating a spiral swirling flow of the gas swirling about a center corresponding to the central axis of an exhaust pipe. The swirling flow generated in the exhaust gas prior to the injection-supply of the urea aqueous solution promotes mixing of the solution with the gas to thereby promote the hydrolysis of the urea solution. And the exhaust gas and ammonia generated from the urea solution are uniformly mixed together.
