  • Patent number: 6464422
Abstract: A seismic adapter for attachment to a steel web joist including two beams with the upper beam having laterally extending flanges with a wood nailer positioned thereon includes two brackets. Each bracket is a plate formed to define a base section, a mounting section and an engagement section. The mounting section is adjacent and perpendicular to the base section while the engagement is also adjacent to the base section and extends at an obtuse angle therefrom. A passage extends through the wood nailer with a shaft extending therethrough to rigidly retain the mounting sections against the wood nailer. The passage has a center distance above the undersurface of the laterally extending flanges which is greater than the distance from the axis of the holes of the mounting sections to the edges of the engagement sections.

  • Patent number: 6334285
Abstract: A hanger for an I-beam includes two brackets positioned over the lower flange of the I-beam and tied together by tie-rods. The brackets each include a base section with a mounting section at 90° thereto on one side and an engagement section at an obtuse angle on the other. A channel is formed on each bracket to accommodate an edge of the I-beam flange. The tie-rods are juxtaposed with the mounting section and also constrain the head of a bolt extending through the mounting section against rotation. The threaded shaft of the bolt provides an equipment mount for the I-beam.

  • Patent number: 5967480
Abstract: A retaining strap for use in supplementing the securement by a C-clamp of a load carrying rod to an I-Beam in steel construction. The strap defines an arcuate slot proximate one end thereof which is adapted to be hooked about the load carrying rod such that the strap can be extended across a portion of the I-Beam and a second extended end portion of the strap bent about the I-Beam to enhance securement of the rod to the I-Beam. In a second embodiment of the invention the slot is formed in a perpendicular disposed ear portion adjacent one end of the strap which is adapted to engage a leg portion of a "U"-shaped hanger such that the strap can be extended across the hanger and the extended end bent about and secured to a second leg of a hanger for securing a fluid carrying conduit within the saddle of the hanger.

  • Patent number: 4697770
Abstract: An improved sway brace for use in building structures for securing a fluid pipe line to an elongated bracing element which is anchored to the structure. The sway brace includes a flat generally U-shaped clamping member adapted to extend traversely about the pipe to be braced for securing the pipe to the bracing element. One end of the clamping member has a first aperture extending therethrough adapted to receive the elongated bracing element. The other end thereof is bent backwardly to define an inverted U-shaped configuration having apertures extending therethrough in axial alignment with the first aperture and also being adapted to receive the bracing element. A bolt member extends through and its in threaded engagement with the inverted U-shaped end of the clamping member for bearing against the bracing element and thereby securing the clamping member to the bracing element and the pipe to the building structure so as to limit relative movement therebetween.
