  • Patent number: 6971303
Abstract: A method and an arrangement in an energy-accumulating piston-cylinder arrangement (A) has a piston/piston rod part (2), guide/end (3) and tubular casing (1). The casing (1) is provided with a fracture or sprain mark (7) in order to initiate a controlled deformation of the casing in the event of a load that produces a stress in excess of a sprain or fracture limit, or of repeated cyclical stressing that gives rise to material fatigue, so that an excess pressure in the arrangement (A) is discharged past the deformed casing.

  • Patent number: 6506303
Abstract: Liquid filter arrangement with interchangeable filter element and including a pot-like filter housing in which the filter element is disassemblably inserted between a liquid inlet to the chamber and an outlet situated below, in the lower section of the filter housing, for filtered liquid from the chamber. In the liquid chamber is arranged a central tube about which is arranged the filter element which is provided at the bottom with an annular end piece sealingly surrounding the central tube, and is provided upwards with an end disc by which the filter element is fastened to a lid fastened sealingly in the upper section of the filter housing. When the filter element is in its fitted position, the end piece blocks the inlet to a draining duct in the central tube, which duct leads to a draining outlet from the chamber.

  • Patent number: 6230682
Abstract: A combustion engine has a line (20) for feeding exhaust gases back from the outlet system (3, 3) to the inlet system (2), an EGR valve (17) in the line (20), an exhaust brake valve (50) in the outlet system to increase the pressure in the outlet system upstream therefrom, and a control system (32) for controlling the degree of opening and closing of the valves (17, 50) on the basis of signals which represent the engine's operating state. The control system (32) holds the EGR valve (17) open and the exhaust brake valve (50) in a position which substantially throttles the exhaust gas flow so long as a first signal indicates that the engine has, during its starting, not yet reached a steady operating state. The result is a particularly simple way of appreciably shortening the time the engine takes to reach a steady operating state from a cold start and a corresponding reduction in discharge of emissions.

  • Patent number: 6059273
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement for a gas spring. The arrangement comprises a cylinder (1). At its one end, this is delimited by a fixed end wall (2), and at its other end there is a first guide (3) sealed against the inner wall of the cylinder (1) and against a piston rod (4) capable of axial movement within the cylinder (1). The piston rod (4) has a second guide (8) mounted in such a way as to be capable of sliding against the inner wall. An annular piston (9) sealed against the inner wall and against the piston rod (4) is mounted on the piston rod (4) between the guides (3; 8) in such a way that it is free to slide. This divides the inner space of the cylinder (1) into a first and a second part space (12; 13). In an initial position, in which the gas spring is unaffected, there is present in the first part space (12) a pressure which is greater than the pressure present in the second part space (13).

  • Patent number: 5580032
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement for a gas spring (1). This consists of an outer cylindrical casing (1a) with a sealing end wall (1b, 1c) at either end. Of these, one (1c) has an axial bore for a piston rod (4a) passing through the bore, which piston rod is connected to a piston (4b) moving axially in the interior of the casing. The arrangement also consists of an annular cylindrical body (5) made of an elastic material. The outer cylindrical wall of the body (5) is operatively connected to the casing (1a) in a sealing fashion. The inner cylindrical wall of the body (5) is operatively connected to the piston (4b) in a sealing fashion. A certain gas pressure prevails in a space (9) defined by the cylindrical wall of the casing (1a), the other end wall (1b) and the piston (4b) and the annular surface of the annular cylindrical body (5) facing away from the end wall (1c) executed with a bore.

  • Patent number: 5076404
Abstract: The present invention relates to an arrangement for a gas spring (1). This comprises a cylinder (2) with a piston (3) capable of being displaced axially therein, which marks the boundary of an inner space (4) of the cylinder (2) filled with a compressible gas-oil mixture. The space (4) varies in volume in accordance with a force (F) acting upon a piston rod connected to the piston. The invention is characterized in that the inner space is so arranged as to communicate via an openable and closable valve (13) with a closed space (10). The arrangement includes a control device (12) for actuating the valve (13), which control device is so arranged as to close the valve (13) once the piston (3) has moved past a predetermined axial position in the cylinder (2), and as to open it at a predetermined time after the moment of closing.
