Abstract: A system and method for fraud prevention is provided. Specifically, an application program interface may be used in concert with an authorization request to process a transaction, to utilize fraud prevention tools. A system, method and/or computer program product for transmitting an authorization request and a request for fraud services to a transaction account issuer is disclosed. The transaction account issuer may combine the authorization request and request for fraud services in order to create an authorization response.

Abstract: Processes (200, 400) for reducing fraud risk in credit transactions, particularly those involving airline ticket purchases, includes collecting the following additional transaction variables and their use in real-time authorization decisions: credit card holder name, reservation code, passenger name, origin city, destination city, travel date, routing description, class of service, e-ticket indicator, number of passengers traveling and carrier code. The additional transaction variables received during a transaction involving the purchase of airline tickets are passed, in addition to the transaction variables traditionally included in a real-time authorizations request, to a fraud risk evaluation model maintained by a financial institution (106) or other entity responsible for authorizing a payment for the transaction.

Abstract: The present invention provides systems, methods and computer program products for authorizing transactions based on, at least in part on, enhanced authorization data. In one embodiment, enhanced authorization data is received in a request for authorization to accept a transaction instrument as payment. Examples of enhanced authorization data include an automatic number identification, an information identifier, an email address, a contact telephone number, a ship-to-name, ship-to-address, an Internet Protocol address, and a seller identification. A risk analysis is performed based, at least in part, on the enhanced authorization data to determine the risk of the request being associated with a fraudulent purchase. The risk may be calculated by comparing the enhanced authorization data with information stored about the transaction instrument or with historical transaction information.

Abstract: Credit applicants may apply for instant credit, and use an instant account number (“IAN”) to make purchases after the instant credit has been granted. Fraud control methods may be used in authorizing the instant credit. When the IAN is issued to purchase airline tickets, it can be ensured that the applicant's last name matches the passenger's last name for the airline ticket being purchased, and that the ticket will not be renamed or sold. When the IAN is issued in conjunction with a partner's loyalty or rewards program, the applicant's account information with the rewards program is captured. It is ensured that the applicant has some tenure with the partner and that data submitted by the applicant is consistent with data on file with the partner.
