  • Publication number: 20110035263
Abstract: One embodiment of a process for improving visibility of an advertisement (110) in an interactive document (130) that is being viewed within a scrollable viewport (120). The advertisement is shown in its original location when the original location is visible within the viewport. When the viewport is scrolled, the original location of the advertisement moves out of the viewport and is no longer visible. When this happens, the advertisement is shifted to a new location. The advertisement in its second location becomes visible within the viewport for a second time as the user continues to scroll through the document. Since the advertisement is viewed more than once, it gets noticed more by users. The locations of the advertisement can be separated by content or other advertisements. Other embodiments are described and shown.

  • Publication number: 20100211467
Abstract: A method and system are provided for effectively utilizing the empty-spaces that form on web-pages. The empty space on a web-page is measured and the space is filled with either new content or new advertisements. New content is either inserted or hidden content is made visible to reduce empty space. Empty space is also reduced by hiding items in columns other than where the empty space has formed. Reducing empty space by showing more advertisements helps web-portals and online publishers generate more revenue from their traffic. In addition, reducing empty space improves the aesthetic presentation of a web-page.

  • Patent number: 7421412
Abstract: A method and system are provided for monitoring use of a licensed digital good, such as software, digital audio or video, text, and web pages. Each licensed digital good is associated with a shared resource, such as a record in a remote database in a license server. The shared resource is updated with data, such as a sequence or periodic transmission, from each instance of the licensed digital good when each instance is used. By detecting if the data in the shared resource has experienced a race condition, the use of multiple instances of the licensed digital good is detected. The method and system can also be used to determine a number of unlicensed uses of the digital good for purposes of automatically selling additional licenses.
