Abstract: A selective call radio apparatus includes a display unit, a storage unit for storing messages, an operation unit used to input instructions and data, a message receiving unit, and a control unit. The control unit reads out the messages from the storage unit to display on the display unit in a first display attribute in a message display mode in response to a display instruction supplied from the operation unit. Also, the control unit displays a new messages on the display unit in a second display attribute different from the first display attribute when the new message is received by the message receiving unit during the display of the messages.

Abstract: A radio paging receiver with a display unit which includes a character generator, display section, and display control unit for reading character patterns corresponding to constituent elements of a message contained in a paging signal from said character generator, controlling the display section on the basis of the read character patterns, and displaying the message on the display section, wherein the display control unit includes a function of displaying constituent elements of messages having different sizes on the display section.

Abstract: A Radio Paging Receiver includes several types of notifying elements such as a speaker, vibrator, and an LED, and a memory for storing notification information to link one of the notifying elements with a time section where notification by one of the notifying elements is conducted. Also included is one or more switches which allow a user to input the notification information, and structure for writing the notification information for input by the switches into the memory, selecting one of the notifying elements corresponding to a time section in which a call time belongs when the radio paging receiver is called according to the notification information stored in the memory, and controlling notification of the call by one of the notifying elements.

Abstract: A radio selective call receiver includes a receiving unit which receives a call, a memory unit which stores a fee table and a call count, and a control unit which counts a number of received calls to produce the call count and which refers to the fee table to determine a fee based on the call count. The call count and fee are stores in a memory unit of the receiver in a manner suitable for recall on a display.

Abstract: An illustration control section 41 contained in a control section 4 stores a lapsed time T after reception of the received message which is obtained from a timer 18 in a RAM 20. Further, a ROM 19 stores illustrations according with the respective lapsed times T for a plurality of periods. When a carrier pushes a display switch 16, the control section 4 displays a received message in a display section 11. Here, the illustration control section 41 reads out an illustration according with the lapsed time T after reception of the message to be displayed from a ROM 19, and displays the illustration together with the received message. If the illustration expresses feelings by a smiling face, a straight face, an angry face or the like, it is possible to readily call the carrier's attention to the lapsed time T.

Abstract: In a radio display pager, the display panel is overlaid with a touch sensitive film and a scan pulse generator is provided. When receiving a paging signal and storing a received message, the scan pulse generator is inactive to avoid interference. The scan pulse generator is activated when a physical key is manually operated for displaying virtual keys by applying a first scan pulse to one end of each horizontal path of the touch sensitive film and a second scan pulse to one end of each vertical path of the film. A pair of coordinate signals is derived from the scan pulse outputs from the other ends of the horizontal and vertical paths. When one of the virtual keys is operated, coordinate signals representing its position are produced and, in response, a corresponding message in the memory is displayed. The scan pulse generator is deactivated when the physical key is operated again.

Abstract: A selective calling receiver detects a message contained in the received selective calling signal and a message identification code given to this message. A counter counts the number of messages for each message identification code and generates the count value, and the messages and said count value are stored in a memory. When the messages stored in the memory are displayed, the message having the message identification code whose count value is greater is first displayed. Continuously, the message of the message identification number is displayed in order of a greater count value.

Abstract: In order to effectively reduce power consumption of a radio pager, an originally determined time period for which power is supplied to high power drain circuitry, is narrowed in the case where the interval between two adjacent code signals transmitted from a calling station becomes more than a predetermined time duration. Contrarily, if the above-mentioned interval is less than the predetermined time duration, the narrowed time period is changed to the original one.

Abstract: A paging receiver provided with a speaker unit including a first resonant box and a second resonant box in order to produce a higher sound pressure without however enlarging a casing of the receiver body is disclosed. The second resonant box is formed made in a hollow space of a mold for fixing a holder to the casing of the paging receiver and is provided with slits to resonate in response to the sound wave outputted from the first resonant box at either input or output portion of the sound wave.
