  • Patent number: 7957876
Abstract: A deceleration control apparatus and method for a vehicle applies a deceleration, which is equal to or smaller than a guard value, to the vehicle based on a vehicle running environment parameter. The deceleration control apparatus determines the manner in which a driver performs an operation for decelerating the vehicle, and changes the guard value based on the manner in which the driver performs the operation for decelerating the vehicle. The manner in which the driver performs the operation for decelerating the vehicle may be determined based on at least one of the time at which the driver performs the operation for decelerating the vehicle, the time period during which the driver operates the brake, and the deceleration achieved by the brake operation.

  • Patent number: 6875152
Abstract: In a controller of a vehicle transmission, the transmission includes a continuously variable transmission 3 and a planetary gear mechanism 4 and is coupled to an output of an engine 1. The transmission includes a first shift mode using only the continuously variable transmission 3 and a second shift mode using in combination the continuously variable transmission 3 and the planetary gear mechanism 4. The controller determines the shift mode based on load of the engine 1 according to a required output and an input/output revolution speed ratio ? of the continuously variable transmission 3, and switches between the above two shift modes at the predetermined input/output revolution speed ratio.

  • Publication number: 20020155910
Abstract: A thrust ratio calculation section 50 calculates a thrust ratio based on driving pulley thrust from a driving pulley thrust calculation section 44 and following pulley thrust from a following pulley thrust calculation section 48. A thrust ratio state of change identifying section 52 detects a peak of a thrust ratio caused by changing of the following pulley thrust, based on the thrust ratio and the following pulley thrust. The following pulley thrust is maintained such that the thrust ratio remains at the peak. This enables appropriate control of the pulley thrust.

  • Patent number: 5052991
Abstract: In an overdrive planetary gear unit of an automatic transmission, a helical planetary pinion has its front portion cut to form an cutout portion and to have an axial-direction cross section asymmetrical in the direction of its rotation axis in order to uniformize, in the axial direction, the load imposed upon a bearing disposed around the circumference of the pinion shaft. In a front planetary gear unit of a main transmission of the automatic transmission, a helical planetary pinion has its rear portion cut to form an cutout portion and to have an axial-direction cross section asymmetrical in the direction of its rotation axis in order to uniformize the load imposed upon a bearing disposed around the circumference of the pinion shaft. It is thereby possible to reduce the weight of each planetary pinion and, hence, the centrifugal force acting on the pinion.
