  • Patent number: 7441887
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide an ink jet print system in which quality troubles (e.g. banding and ink overflow) caused by an unsuitable combination of ink and an ink jet recording medium in an ink jet recording apparatus in the case where the ink jet recording medium is an imitation, are obviated on the basis of printing control information obtained from the ink jet recording medium with an information-detecting sensor, and it is possible to prevent the employment of an ink jet recording medium which a user cannot judge to be a genuine product or an imitation. According to the present invention, an ink jet print system can be obtained in which printing information obtained from an image processor and the printing control information of the ink jet recording medium obtained from the information-detecting sensor are processed and on the basis of information of these kinds, the best image is always formed with the ink jet recording apparatus by the use of a genuine product.

  • Patent number: 7147901
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to obtain a double-side ink jet recording sheet at least one side of which has gloss surface and in which scratches caused by rubbing of sheets hardly occur. According to the present invention, there is obtained a double-side ink jet recording sheet comprising a support provided with at least one ink-receiving layer on each of both sides, wherein at least one side has a gloss surface having a 75° specular glossiness of not less than 40% and the ink-receiving layer on the side opposite to the side having gloss surface contains organic particles having an average particle diameter of 2–40 ?m. The outermost layer of the side having the gloss surface is preferably formed by subjecting to pressure-contact specular finishing by cast-coating method.

  • Publication number: 20040096598
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide an ink jet recording medium which is high in gloss and ink absorption and excellent in image colorfulness and adhesion of the coats and a method for producing the same. According to the present invention, there is provided an ink jet recording medium which comprises a support, an undercoat layer containing a salt of an alkaline earth metal and an adhesive provided on the support and an ink-receiving layer provided by coating a coating solution containing inorganic ultrafine particles on the undercoat layer. The undercoat layer preferably contains the adhesive in an amount of 0.05-0.8 time the amount of the salt of alkaline earth metal in weight ratio. Furthermore, the undercoat layer preferably contains an organic pigment. The alkaline earth metal is preferably calcium or magnesium, and more preferably the salt of the alkaline earth metal is a carbonate.
