  • Patent number: 8494652
Abstract: There is disclosed various embodiments of an implantable anchor for permanently anchoring a medical lead or catheter. For instance, there is disclosed an implantable anchor including a body having a longitudinal lumen defined therein, wherein the longitudinal lumen is sized to accept a portion of the medical lead or catheter, a bending mechanism coupled to the body for bending the lead to a predetermined angle within the body, and a retaining mechanism for maintaining the predetermined angle of the bent lead within the body.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 8, 2011
Date of Patent: July 23, 2013
    Assignee: Advanced Neuromodulation Systems, Inc.
Inventors: Kurt Cantlon, Tommy Cushing, John K. Henderson, Paul Burns
  • Patent number: 8489208
Abstract: There is disclosed various embodiments of an implantable anchor for anchoring a medical lead within a patient. The implantable anchor includes a body having a cavity for receiving a medical lead, and a separate, removable key for insertion into the cavity. The key, upon insertion into the cavity, engages and locks the medical lead into place and prevents the movement of the medical lead with respect to the anchor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 9, 2010
Date of Patent: July 16, 2013
    Assignee: Advanced Neuromodulation Systems, Inc.
    Inventor: Kurt Cantlon
  • Publication number: 20120071833
Abstract: In one embodiment, an implantable anchor for holding a catheter in place within a patient, comprises a body comprising a channel for holding the catheter; a plurality of apertures such that at least one aperture is disposed on each side of the spiral channel; and one or more suture structures to allow a surgeon to suture the anchor to tissue of the patient; wherein when a catheter is disposed within the channel and is threaded through the plurality of apertures, the plurality of apertures limit longitudinal displacement of the catheter in either longitudinal direction relative to the anchor without continuously applying a compressive force to the catheter.

  • Patent number: 7899544
Abstract: The invention is directed to an implantable pump. The implantable pump has a port with light emitters indicating the location of the port. The port can be useful in providing bolus injections or the refilling of reservoirs. The light emitters can be arranged in various forms about the port including linear, triangular, square, or circular, among others. If more than one port is located on a device, these ports can be differentiated by differing colors and arrangements of emitters. In addition, various circuitries can be used to activate the emitters. These circuitries can include a coil and capacitor arrangement that provide a separate power source from that of the pump.
