  • Patent number: 10505307
Abstract: Provided is a plastic-lined interconnect receptacle configured to receive a plug therein. The interconnect receptacle may include a tongue with pins applied thereon for electrical contact with the plug, a metal shell comprising a plurality of inner walls configured to surround at least a portion of the tongue, and a plastic liner positioned inside the metal shell to cover at least three of the inner walls. With such an interconnect receptacle, a color of the plastic liner may be an external color of a computing device in which the interconnect receptacle is installed while maintaining compliance with a UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS or DISPLAYPORT specification.

  • Patent number: 10483688
Abstract: A magnetic receptacle is described. The receptacle includes an electronic connector having an engagement feature on one or more sides of the electronic connector. The engagement feature is configured to engage a latching feature on a magnetic protrusion. The receptacle includes one or more receptacle magnets positioned adjacent the magnetic receptacle configured to deactivate the latching feature on the magnetic protrusion. In one implementation, a magnetic plug is described. The plug includes a plug tip. The plug includes one or more latching features. The plug includes one or more plug magnets positioned adjacent the plug tip. The one or more plug magnets are configured to cooperate with one or more receptacle magnets to transition the one or more latching features between an engaged state and a disengaged state.

  • Patent number: 10312611
Abstract: A floating connector assembly device is provided. An electronic component is mounted directly or indirectly to a chassis of an electronic device. At least one conductive contact spring is mounted to the electronic component and configured to electrically couple to the electronic component. A printed circuit board having a fixed end and a free end with an electrical contact positioned between the two ends is positioned against the conductive contact spring, the contact spring being biased so that a contacting portion of the contact spring contacts the electrical contact to form an electrical connection. The electrical connection is maintained during relative movement of the conductive contact spring and the electrical contact of the printed circuit board by a bias force of the conductive contact spring.

  • Patent number: 10164378
Abstract: To address the issue of radio frequency interference with high-speed connectors, a communication port connector for use in a computing device is provided. The communication port connector may include a shell that defines a void that is configured to receive an electrical plug. Port-side electrical contacts in the shell may be configured to make electrical connections with plug-side electrical contacts. One or more double leaf spring fingers may be formed in a side of the shell, with each double leaf spring finger including a first spring finger coupled to a second spring finger. The first spring finger may be configured to contact the electrical plug, and the second spring finger may be configured to contact a chassis of the computing device, thereby creating a ground path to ground the electrical plug to the primary ground plane of the device when it is inserted into the communication port connector.
