  • Publication number: 20100134285
Abstract: A method of sensor data fusion in a physical security system of a monitored area is provided. The method comprises receiving data inputs from one or more sensors in the physical security system, with the monitored area being overlaid with a grid defining a plurality of locations. The method further comprise selecting one or more potential paths of one or more potential intruders through the monitored area using an iterative process, which takes into consideration a sequence of sensor inputs and assumed limitations on the mobility of the one or more potential intruders. A confidence metric is then produced for each selected potential path.

  • Publication number: 20100053330
Abstract: A security sensor system comprises one or more laser detection and ranging (LADAR) sensors configured for accumulation of three-dimensional image data. In one embodiment, the one or more LADAR sensors each comprise a LADAR device, such as a MEMS device, configured to transmit a plurality of laser pulses, and a microprocessor operatively coupled to the LADAR device. One or more data storage devices is operatively coupled to the microprocessor and configured to store the three-dimensional image data, as well as predetermined protected area boundary and fixed object definitions. A GPS receiver can be operatively coupled to the microprocessor and a GPS antenna. The microprocessor is configured to perform a LADAR image analysis that compares the three-dimensional image data with the protected area boundary and fixed object definitions to identify one or more potential intruders.

  • Patent number: 7155016
Abstract: A communication device for use in a non-self synchronizing scrambling (NS3) communication system and a method for using NS3 in a communication system are disclosed. A digital data stream is scrambled by modifying the digital data stream based on a pseudo-noise sequence (PNS) to produce a scrambled digital data stream. The PNS has a timing reference that is distinct from the digital data stream. The scrambled digital data stream is capable of being descrambled by performing an inverse modification, based on the same PNS and the same timing reference. The scrambled digital data stream may be transmitted over a communication medium and descrambled at the opposing end of the communication medium. Synchronization between the scrambler and the descrambler is maintained by providing a common timing reference to the scrambler and the descrambler. The common timing reference is distinct from the data stream.

  • Patent number: 6950444
Abstract: A method and system for robust delimiting of transmitted messages in switched-carrier operation in which a preamble precedes each communication message with the preamble comprising symbols transmitted at a rate lower than that of the following data. The lower rate symbols of the preamble significantly increase the probability that the decoder will decode the preamble symbols error free. Communication line control information can be included in the robust preamble, thereby ensuring that line control information is reliably transferred over the communication channel. The first symbol of the preamble can be transmitted at the lower symbol rate and at an increased power level, thereby clearly and reliably delimiting the beginning of a transmission. The end of the communication message can be reliably delimited by sending the first symbol containing only bits from a next cell of information at a lower symbol rate and including an extra bit in that symbol.

  • Publication number: 20050074057
Abstract: A system and method for modulation on demand in a computing device, such as a personal computer, allows a central processor located in a computing device to perform the processing necessary to accomplish data communications without the need for an external processor. The system and method uses a novel modulation and accomplishes that modulation on the processor of a general purpose computing device.

  • Publication number: 20050025153
Abstract: A device configured to encapsulate a plurality of ATM cells (176a through 176n) into an ATM frame (170), the plurality of ATM cells (176a through 176n) having the received data, so that the ATM frame (170) is communicated onto a subscriber line (18), such that the communicated ATM frame (170) has a variable transmission duration, the variable transmission duration corresponding to a number of the plurality of ATM cells (176a through 176n) encapsulated into the ATM frame (170).

  • Patent number: 4645871
Abstract: In a system in which data between a master and remote location is encrypted by using the DES algorithm, the status of security devices at the remote location is monitored from a centralized security station. A message indicative of the status of the security devices is used to generate an initializing vector (IV). This IV is then used to encrypt the data from the remote to the master.
