Patent number: 10313735Abstract: A method and apparatus for display of a recall list is disclosed. In the method and apparatus, a content receiver receives a first recall command from a remote control and presents, on a display screen, a recall list. The recall list includes a plurality of live video streams of a respective plurality of channels included in the recall list. A live video stream is displayed in a respective region of the display screen. The live video stream may be a live broadcast of a respective channel showing an active live program. The content receiver receives a live stream selection from the remote control. The selected video stream is then displayed on the display screen.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2015Date of Patent: June 4, 2019Assignee: Dish Technologies L.L.C.Inventor: Kurt Keipert

Patent number: 10104418Abstract: Systems and methods are operable to record a user-specified media content event at a media device. An exemplary embodiment grabs a series of subsequently received image frames from a preceding broadcasting media content event after a monitored real time reaches a closing credits monitor time, wherein the closing credits monitor time is a recording start time less a predefined duration. The embodiment then analyzes each of the image frames to identify an occurrence of text presented in the analyzed image frame, determines that the identified text corresponds to closing credits of the preceding broadcasting media content event if the at least one attribute of the identified text matches a corresponding predefined closing credits attribute, and initiates a start of the recording of the user-specified media content event in response to determining that the identified text corresponds to the closing credits of the preceding broadcasting media content event.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2016Date of Patent: October 16, 2018Assignee: EchoStar Technologies L.L.C.Inventor: Kurt Keipert

Patent number: 9852603Abstract: A system includes a networked device is programmed to transmit, to one or more second networked devices, a request to locate a remote control device of the networked device. Based on the responses to the request, the networked device is further programmed to provide an indication via a user interface of the networked device concerning a location of the remote control device.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 2015Date of Patent: December 26, 2017Assignee: EchoStar Technologies L.L.C.Inventors: Kurt Keipert, Adam Schafer

Patent number: 9632746Abstract: Systems and methods for altering a volume level of an electronic device may include receiving a user input indicative of triggering a remote find operation to locate a remote control, and in response to the user input, sending a remote find instruction to the remote control. The remote find instruction may trigger the remote control to emit a sound. Systems and methods may include, in response to the user input, sending a temporary quiet instruction to the home automation device. The quiet instruction may initiate a lowering of the volume level of the home automation device while the remote control is emitting the sound as a part of the remote find operation.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2015Date of Patent: April 25, 2017Assignee: ECHOSTAR TECHNOLOGIES L.L.C.Inventors: Kurt Keipert, Adam Schafer
