  • Patent number: 10011940
Abstract: The invention relates to a household appliance (1) for the care of laundry items, with a dispensing tray (8a) and a suds container (2), which is connected to the dispensing tray (8a) via at least one supply duct (4a, 4b), wherein a vapour barrier device (17a, 17b) is formed in a curved line section (18a, 18b) in the supply duct (4a, 4b), wherein a ventilating channel (22) is formed in the line section (18a, 18b) and opens into a first end (19) of the line section (18a, 18b) and is separated at the first end (19) from a supply channel (21), associated with the vapour barrier device (17a, 17b), for supplying liquid medium from the dispensing tray (8a) to the suds container (2).

  • Patent number: 5057688
Abstract: A method for determining the element concentration in electron beam melting is used for the continous measurement during the melting process especially for melting alloys. According to the invention, the X-radiation generated during melting is utilized by concurrently measuring the intensity of the characteristic radiation of the element to be determined and the intensity of another portion of the X-ray spectrum from the same location of the melt. The quotient of both measurands then is a function of the concentration of the element to be determined.

  • Patent number: 4479402
Abstract: A microtome actuable both manually and by a motor, with a single coupling element, whereby rotation of the hand wheel when the motor drive is engaged and thus the risk of injury by the manual grip are excluded. The coupling element is located in the hand wheel and is capable of locking in two positions by means of pulling and rotating, the respective positions establishing the manual or motor drive mode. The drive mode is made readily apparent from the outside by means of symbols. In the hand wheel, an equalizing weight for the object carriage is provided.

  • Patent number: 4455910
Abstract: Disclosed is a traversing microtome having a base (10) and a movable carriage (13). A blade holder (12) with a blade (16) is mounted on the base (10), and an object holder (14) is mounted on the carriage (13). To carry out the cutting process, the carriage (13), together with the object holder (14) and the object (15), is moved against the stationary blade (16). Between the guide rails (18,18') of the base (10) and the carriage (13) a bearing gap (30) with a width of a few microns is created by means of air bearing elements (21,21'), and consequently only a minimal force is required to move the slide (13). Between the air bearing elements (21,21'), magnets (22,22') are arranged so that their attracting forces act against the air pressure of the air bearing elements. In this manner, the force needed to arrest the motion of the carriage (13) at any given location of the guide rails (18,18') is extremely low. The carriage (13) cannot be moved when the supply of air is interrupted.

  • Patent number: 3951252
Abstract: An electromechanical writing device comprising a writing head, a writing head carrier for carrying the writing head, a guide along which the writing head carrier is movable during a writing operation, a writing platen over which, in operation, a recording medium, e.g. paper, is moved during the writing operation, a shearing edge forming part of the writing platen and extending in a direction parallel to the direction of movement of the writing head, and a roller knife mounted for movement along the guide and cooperating with the shearing edge to permit the recording medium to be cut.
