  • Patent number: 11723406
Abstract: The present disclosure describes a tamper responsive cartridge which can prevent malicious or inadvertent altering of the primary substance before it is consumed by the user, either by an intervening party, or the user itself. As described herein, an altering substance can be contained in a second reservoir, separate from the primary reservoir, and configured to make access to the primary reservoir difficult without also accessing the secondary reservoir.

  • Patent number: 11622583
Abstract: The present disclosure describes a personal vaporizer which can detect whether or not a cartridge of the personal vaporizer has been breached. The cartridge includes a conductive shell. The conductive shell can include two or more conductors which are electrically isolated from each-other. Prior to operation, the personal vaporizer can use the two or more conductors to assess whether or not an outer shell of the cartridge has been breached. In some implementations, if it is determined that the cartridge has been breached, the personal vaporizer can shut down, or otherwise fail to operate normally.

  • Publication number: 20230091269
Abstract: This disclosure describes a personal vaporizer such as an electronic cigarette, a vape pen, vape kits, e-cig, e-hookah, or other electronic nicotine delivery system that includes a movable wall in the cartridge for more reliable substance delivery. In many personal vaporizers, a wick transports the substance to be atomized from a reservoir to an atomization chamber via capillary action. These cartridges rely on gravity to ensure the wick is properly wetted during use, in order to prevent damage to the wick material. In certain instances, gravity is not suitable for feeding a wick, for example with substances that do not flow freely in the cartridge. In these instances, a movable wall, e.g., a ceiling or other wall, for mechanically forcing the substance onto the wick, or preventing voids or air pockets from forming in undesirable locations is desired.

  • Publication number: 20230093305
Abstract: This disclosure describes a personal vaporizer such as an electronic cigarette, electronic nicotine delivery system that includes a movable ceiling, which can be adjusted to compensate for changes in ambient barometric pressure. Personal vaporizers can provide controlled substances (e.g., nicotine, Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), Cannabidiol (CBD), etc.). In many personal vaporizers, a wick transports the substance to be atomized from a reservoir to an atomization chamber via capillary action. In condition where a sufficient differential pressure between the atomization chamber, typically at ambient pressure, and the reservoir exists, the substance can leak from the reservoir into the atomization chamber without being drawn out by airflow (e.g., the user inhaling on the mouthpiece).

  • Publication number: 20220346457
Abstract: This disclosure describes control of a personal vaporizer, such as an electronic cigarette, a vape pen, vape kits, e-cig, or e-hookah, electronic nicotine delivery system, that either can be coupled to one or more other personal vaporizers or that has two or more cartridges for vapor generation and delivery. Personal vaporizers can provide controlled substances (e.g., nicotine, Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), Cannabidiol (CBD), etc.). In addition to the controlled substances, personal vaporizers allow for unique flavors as compared to traditional inhalation devices (e.g., cigarettes, cigars, or pipes). Since cartridges for personal vaporizers often provide a fixed dosage of substance and limited range of flavors, it can be desirable to allow the user to mix and combine multiple cartridges.

  • Publication number: 20220346454
Abstract: The present disclosure involves systems, methods, and an apparatus for inhaling vaporized substances. An attachable personal vaporizer is disclosed comprising a body having a power supply, a control circuit, and a cartridge. The cartridge includes a first channel that provides a flow path to transport vaporized substance to a first end of the body. A mouthpiece is coupled to the first end of the body that includes a second channel, which extends the flow path from the first end of the body through the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece and the body are shaped to abut to a second personal vaporizer.

  • Patent number: 9820509
Abstract: An electronic cigarette with an atomizer cartridge and a battery assembly. The atomizer cartridge has an atomizer coupled to a first and second terminal of a cartridge interface. A passive electrical circuit is coupled between the first terminal and a sensing terminal. The battery assembly has an interface with a first, second, and sensing contact. The interface engages the cartridge interface to provide electrical continuity between the terminals and contacts. The battery assembly has an atomizer drive circuit connected between the first and second contact, and a controller that activates the atomizer drive circuit in response to negative pressure at a draw sensor. A sensing circuit coupled to the sensing contact outputs a parameter signal indicative of the electrical parameters of the passive electrical circuit. The controller activates an RGB LED to produce discrete colors of light corresponding to discrete values of the parameter signal.

  • Patent number: 9596887
Abstract: An electronic cigarette including an housing that has a mouthpiece with an aerosol outlet, and an atomizer disposed within an atomizing chamber. The atomizer selectively generates an aerosol of the liquid in response to suction pressure at the aerosol outlet. The atomizing chamber has an air inlet, an atomizer outlet coupled to the aerosol outlet, and a first wick aperture. A liquid reservoir is disposed within the housing, which is sealably separated from the atomizing chamber. A wick disposed through the first wick aperture between the liquid reservoir and the atomizing chamber and it is configured to transfer the liquid by capillarity from the liquid reservoir to the atomizer.

  • Patent number: 9308336
Abstract: A refillable atomizing assembly with a liquid reservoir for an electronic cigarette. The assembly includes a housing and a mouthpiece that is removably engaged to the housing. A liquid reservoir is disposed within the housing, and separated from the aerosol outlet by an outlet chamber. The liquid reservoir is refillable by removing the mouthpiece and dispensing the liquid into the outlet chamber. An atomizing chamber is adjacent to the reservoir and opposite of the outlet chamber. An aerosol conduit connects the atomizing chamber to the outlet chamber. An isolation member is disposed within the outlet chamber. A liquid passage through the isolation member allows the liquid placed into the outlet chamber to flow into the reservoir. A shield portion of the isolation member is located about the aerosol conduit to prevent liquid from entering. An aerosol vent through the shield portion enables the flow of the aerosol therethrough.

  • Publication number: 20150164141
Abstract: An electronic cigarette with plural of atomizing assembly sizes. A battery assembly contains a battery and control circuit, with a first mechanical connector disposed adjacent to a first end, and a second mechanical connector disposed adjacent to the first connector. The electronic cigarette also has a small atomizer assembly with a mouthpiece, an atomizer, and a liquid reservoir. A small mechanical connector is designed to engage the second mechanical connector of the battery assembly. The assembly includes a connector shroud that has a shroud mechanical connector, and that tapers from a first outer periphery, which corresponds to the elongated housing size of the battery assembly, to a second outer periphery, which corresponds to the small atomizer assembly. When assembled, the mouthpiece of the small atomizing assembly is exposed beyond the second end of the connector shroud.

  • Publication number: 20150114406
Abstract: An electronic cigarette with a selectively replaceable mouthpiece. This includes a vapor generating electronic cigarette with a rigid mouthpiece that has a vapor opening at its distal end. The rigid mouthpiece is configured with a first circumference located about its longitudinal axis, and a second circumference, which is larger than the first circumference, located distal from the first circumference. A mouthpiece cover is formed from a pliable polymeric material, and has an internal cavity that generally conform with the shape of rigid mouthpiece. The mouthpiece cover also has a vapor passage extending from the internal cavity to an outlet end, which defines a continuous passage for vapor to pass from the vapor generating electronic cigarette to the outlet end. In addition, the pliable polymeric material stretches to enable removal and replacement of the mouthpiece cover to and from the rigid mouthpiece of the electronic cigarette.
