The method further includes reaming a portion of the accessed glenoid using the coupled power extension and combination device and then decoupling the power extension and the combination device. Next, a manual extension and the combination device are coupled and the coupled manual extension is used to align a first drill guide of the combination device with a desired trajectory of a first fixation peg of a glenoid component with the combination device positioned against the reamed portion of the accessed glenoid. A drill bit is guided with the aligned first drill guide to bore a first fixation peg bore in the glenoid.

The glenoid component further includes an anchor peg for penetrating the glenoid surface of the scapula so as to secure the body portion to the glenoid surface of the scapula. The anchor peg includes a cylindrical shaft extending from the first surface of the body portion and a fin secured to and extending outwardly from the cylindrical shaft. The glenoid component further includes a feature that prevents rotation of the glenoid component.

    Abstract: A method of preparing a shoulder to receive a glenoid component includes accessing a glenoid of a shoulder, positioning a distal portion and a proximal portion of a combination power extension/anti-rotation device on a guide wire positioned in the shoulder and reaming a hole in the shoulder using the combination power extension/anti-rotation device with the distal portion and the proximal portion positioned on the guide wire. The proximal portion is removed from the guide wire and pivoted with respect to the distal portion while the distal portion is still positioned on the guide wire. The picoted proximal portion is used to rotate an instrument to a first position and a bore is formed in the glenoid through the instrument with the instrument at the first position.
