  • Patent number: 11922122
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to systems and methods for detecting emerging events. In various examples, a method for detecting emerging events includes obtaining communication data associated with communication between multiple sources, segmenting communication data into multiple segments, determining whether a data segment belongs to a familiar topic or none, and generating a notification when a familiar topic is mentioned for more or less than a mention prediction. Additionally, or alternatively, a notification may be generated when an unfamiliar topic emerges from a set of unfamiliar data segments if an associated segment count exceeds a critical mass threshold. To determine whether a data segment belongs to a familiar topic, the data segment may be transformed into a feature vector and mapped onto a feature space, where a distance-based similarity score may be determined.

  • Patent number: 10200724
Abstract: Described are techniques for selecting an audio device from a group of devices to function as a master device that receives data from a remote source and distributes the data to other devices within the group. Each device is used for this purpose at least once to determine at least one data throughput value attainable by the device. Based the data throughput values for the devices, signal strength data for the devices, and characteristics of the devices themselves, a master device and a length of time that the audio device is to be used as the master device is determined. Other lengths of time that other devices are to be used temporarily as master devices may also be determined. As additional data throughput values are determined from each instance that a device is used, the determined master device and the lengths of time that each device is used may change.

  • Patent number: 9979998
Abstract: Described are techniques for synchronizing multiple devices within a group to enable performance of a synchronized action through the exchange of time data. A first device provides a timestamp or other time data to multiple other devices via a multicast transmission. Each of the other devices determines a time at which the timestamp was received and exchanges this data with one another. Based on the determined times, the other devices may be synchronized relative to a selected synchronization master device. One of the other devices may then determine a from the first device, and determine the time at which the timestamp from the first device was received, enabling the first device to be synchronized with the synchronization master device. Devices that are unable to receive multicast transmissions from the first device may exchange timestamps with the first device via an access point.

  • Publication number: 20150296895
Abstract: The technical disclosure of this application describes the approximate placement, measurements and cuts of two different styles/types of bras with an inside center pocket for cellular devices and two inside side pockets for other personal items; and includes one drawing of a “theia style” bra with pockets and three black and white photographs showing an actual “theia style” bra with pockets. The bras with pockets will be manufactured using every different type and style of bra. Material will be used in manufacturing the bra pocket, and/or in manufacturing a separate accessory sleeve holding the cellular device that can then be inserted into the bra pocket, so as to protect the pocketed items from perspiration and the wearer from RF waves and/or any and all other potentially harmful effects of the cellular devices.

  • Publication number: 20090183867
Abstract: A heat exchanger for a compressor comprising a housing comprising a plurality of pass chambers, wherein each pass chamber comprises a plurality of tubes for contacting a hot fluid with a cooling media. At least one first flow nozzle introduces a first portion of the hot fluid into a first pass chamber. At least one second flow nozzle downstream of the first flow nozzle introduces a second portion of the hot fluid into at least one downstream pass chamber, forming a reduced rate of fluid flow in the first pass chamber and optimizing contact between the second portion of the hot fluid and the plurality of tubes, to form a cooled fluid. An outlet downstream of the second flow nozzle, in communication with a final pass chamber, is adapted for receiving the cooled fluid.

  • Patent number: 5926807
Abstract: A method and system for effectively representing a result set in a limited amount of memory is provided. The result set is made up of a number of ordered rows. At least some of the rows contain row data, while each of the rows contains a bookmark that may be used to retrieve row data for the row. When it is determined that the size of the result set should be reduced, a subset of the rows of the result set is identified. The identified subset of rows is contiguous within the order of the results set and includes rows that contain row data. For each row of the identified subset, the row data is removed from the result set while retaining in the result set the bookmarks of the rows in the identified subset. As the result of the removal of row data, the size of the result set is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5685003
Abstract: A system and method for indexing words in documents, the system including a master index for storing the words and for storing associated index data. One of the documents is selected for updating and is edited. Next, a shadow index is created. Each word from the selected edited document is then indexed in the shadow index. A fresh index table is updated to indicate that the shadow index contains the most up-to-date data regarding the selected edited document. Query requests will be processed by searching all relevant indexes and comparing the retrieved results with the data in the fresh index table. Only the most up-to-date data will actually be returned as the query results. Periodically, shadow indexes and the master index can be merged into a new master index. Only the most up-to-date data, as determined by a comparison with the fresh index table, will be stored in the new master index.
