    Abstract: Gain photocurrent is promptly obtained by providing an insulating layer and a photoconductive layer placed between two electrodes with a biasing means sandwiched between the layers. The sandwiched structure in conjunction with an applied electrical potential and excitation light provides a fast acting electrical switching device. Optionally, an imaging layer can be included between the photoconductive layer and one of the electrodes, and can be promptly imaged with increased sensitivity.
