  • Patent number: 8059066
Abstract: A write current is contracted without loss of precision of current-driven structure. While a capacitance TFT is switched off, a data current is supplied from a power supply line PVDD through a driver TFT and a selection TFT to a data line DL. With this process, a voltage which is lower than PVDD by an amount corresponding to a writing current of the driver TFT is set to gate of the driver TFT. Then, a control TFT is switched on so that a current corresponding to the gate voltage of the driver TFT flows to an organic electroluminescence element. In this process, the capacitance TFT is switched from an off state to an on state so that the gate voltage of the driver TFT changes corresponding to the change in capacitance and the drive current is contracted while the threshold value and mobility of the driver TFT are compensated for.

  • Patent number: 7944412
Abstract: Each of pixels arranged in a matrix comprises an element to be driven, a switching TFT, an element driving TFT, and a storage capacitor, and a potential shifting capacitor. The storage capacitor is connected between the gate and a source of the element driving TFT. Before a data signal is output, a precharge signal is output to a data line to turn on the element driving TFT, a set signal is output to a power supply line that is used to supply power through the turned-on element driving TFT to the element to be driven, and, before a data signal is applied to one electrode of the storage capacitor, the source of the element driving TFT and another electrode of the storage capacitor are discharged in response to the set signal to be fixed at a constant potential. By performing control as described above, the element to be driven is driven using a minimum number of circuit elements.

  • Patent number: 7570257
Abstract: An element driving transistor controls an amount of power supplied from a power supply PVDD to an element to be driven (display element) provided in a pixel of each row. A storage capacitor has a first electrode connected to a gate electrode of an element driving transistor and a second electrode connected to a capacitor line. A voltage level of a capacitor control signal SCn to be output to the capacitor line is set to a voltage level which controls the element driving transistor via the storage capacitor Cs to be periodically switched off. A V driver formed at a periphery of a display portion of a panel has a generator which generates a capacitor control signal SCn using outputs of registers which sequentially transfer and output a signal according to a V start signal STV so that the off-control period of the element driving transistor is determined according to the H level period of the V start signal STV.

  • Publication number: 20070210303
Abstract: A photoelectric current caused by extraneous light is suppressed and variations in characteristics (for example, a threshold voltage) of a thin film transistor are reduced. An active layer (semiconductor layer) made of polycrystalline silicon, which is transformed from amorphous silicon by laser annealing, is formed on an insulating substrate. A drain region 2d and a source region 2s, which are facing to each other, are formed in the active layer. Each of the drain region 2d and the source region 2s is formed of an n? layer and an n+ layer adjacent to each other. A p-type channel region 2c is formed between the n? layer in the drain region 2d and the n? layer in the source region 2s. A light-shielding layer 3d is formed to cover only a boundary region between the n? layer in the drain region 2d and the channel region 2c to shield the boundary region from extraneous light incident upon the boundary region through the insulating substrate.

  • Publication number: 20070132673
Abstract: Each pixel has a display element, a pixel transistor which controls an operation of the display element, and a storage capacitor which stores charges corresponding to display data for a predetermined period. During a normal operation, a capacitor signal to be output to a capacitor line connected to each storage capacitor is AC driven in a predetermined period to improve display quality or the like. A structure to fix the capacitor signal to be output to the capacitor line to a fixed level during defect inspection of the pixel or the like is formed on a substrate simultaneously with a pixel circuit or the like. With this structure, the inspection precision can be improved when the defect inspection of each pixel is to be detected from capacitance value data or the like in each pixel. It is also possible to allow setting of the fixed level in the inspection to an arbitrary inspection voltage suitable for the inspection.

  • Publication number: 20060262050
Abstract: A high quality display is realized with an organic EL display device by reducing a coarse look and variations in brightness on a display panel due to variations in threshold voltages of driver transistors. Also, a cost of the display device is reduced by eliminating a need for an external driver IC. The electroluminescent display device of this invention is of passive drive type that has no TFT in each pixel or of semi-passive drive type that has a pixel selection transistor and an organic EL device in each pixel. With this, an aperture ratio of the pixel is improved and the high quality display is realized by reducing the coarse look. Various kinds of drive circuits such as a horizontal shift register, a data line drive circuit and a vertical shift register are formed on a single glass substrate together with a pixel region in which the electroluminescent device is formed. The data line drive circuit has a first data line drive circuit and a second data line drive circuit.

  • Publication number: 20030226158
Abstract: The present inventors established ES cell lines in which one of Cds1 (Chk2) alleles was inactivated by using gene targeting. Chimeric mice were constructed using the cell lines, and genetically modified mice in which both of the Cds1 (Chk2) alleles were inactivated were constructed. Furthermore, by incubating the ES cell lines in which one of Cds1 (Chk2) alleles was inactivated in a selection medium containing a high concentration of an antibiotic, the present inventors constructed mouse ES cell lines in which both the alleles were inactivated. The mice and cells established from the mice can be utilized in screenings for compounds that regulate the cell cycle.

  • Publication number: 20030175817
Abstract: A novel action mechanism wherein androgen receptor (AR) is activated by the interaction between cyclin E and the androgen receptor was revealed. This activation is resistant to existing anti-androgen agents and both androgen receptor ligand-dependent and independent activations were found to participate in this mechanism. Methods of screening for anti-androgen agents using cyclin E are also provided by the present invention. Based on the findings as described above, novel anti-androgen agents can be screened. These anti-androgen agents are expected to be efficacious also against pathological conditions that have become resistant to existing anti-androgen agents. Thus, the instant invention opens up new possibilities for treatment using anti-androgen agents that had their limitations until now.
