  • Publication number: 20050102096
Abstract: An off-board navigation system and method for calibrating an error using the same. A server provided in the off-board navigation system calculates a predetermined path using a pre-stored map in response to a request, generates calibration information based upon the calculated path, and transmits the calculated path and the calibration information. A terminal provided in the off-board navigation system requests that the server calculate the predetermined path, receives the calculated path and the calibration information, compares the calibration information and position information measured by sensors embedded in the terminal, and compensates for the sensors. The off-board navigation system can calibrate a position error between map information and actual traveling information, and hence can improve the accuracy of navigation service.

  • Publication number: 20050073388
Abstract: A mobile terminal for controlling a vehicle using a short message by establishing authentication information to establish mutual authentication between the vehicle acting and a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal requests initial information needed for an automatic control function from the vehicle using the authentication information, and checks the vehicle's automatic control available items associated with the initial information received from the vehicle. Upon receiving user's selection information needed for the automatic control function, the mobile terminal generates a short message containing a control command corresponding to items from among the checked automatic control available items, and transmits the short message to the vehicle. The user uses a short message in a mobile communication network to remotely control a vehicle. User interface using icons allow the user to conveniently control the vehicle at a remote site.

  • Publication number: 20040203916
Abstract: A method for transmitting and for storing destination information in a mobile communication terminal is disclosed. The method for transmitting destination information includes determining whether a navigation mode is enabled and, if the navigation mode is enabled, determining whether a hot key is pressed for a predetermined time. If the hot key is pressed for the predetermined time, destination address information corresponding to the hot key is read, and transmitted to an information center over a wireless network. Therefore, since a phone book of the mobile communication terminal is interworked with destination address information for navigation, the present invention simplifies procedures needed to transmit the destination address information using the mobile communication terminal.

  • Publication number: 20040098167
Abstract: A home robot controlled by a remote supercomputer. When a user gives a voice command to the home robot, the home robot A/D converts the voice command and transmits the converted command to the supercomputer through a home gateway and a communication network. A control unit in the supercomputer interprets the voice command. Service modules produce appropriate response commands based on the interpreted voice command. The response commands are transmitted to the home robot over a communication network A control unit in the home robot receives the response commands, and upon analysis thereof, controls one or more actions of the home robot by generating one or more of a digital voice signal, motion control signal and an image signal. The digital voice signal is converted to an analog signal for reproduction through a speaker. A driving unit moves body components of the home robot in response to one or more of the motion control signals from the control unit.

  • Patent number: 6564057
Abstract: A system and method for determining a handoff target base station in a mobile communication system according to a direction of travel of a mobile station are provided. The mobile station measures strengths of pilot signals transmitted from base stations in proximity thereto and transmits information about the measured strengths to a base station controller (BSC). The BSC selects one of the base stations as the handoff target base station depending on the measured strength information and relative location of the mobile station with respect to each of the base stations. In an alternate embodiment, the mobile station selects the handoff target base station based on weights assigned to each base station according to a predicted direction of travel for the mobile station. The mobile station then selects one of the base stations as the handoff target base station depending upon the measured strengths and weights.
