    Abstract: Mobile communication terminals and methods are provided. A mobile communication terminal includes a transceiver, audio processing unit, speaker, connecting unit, display unit, input unit, and control unit. The control unit is configured to control to display, while in a silent mode, a user interface for reproduction of a music file, in response to a user input while in the silent mode, control to reproduce the music file and to output audio signals corresponding thereto through the speaker, in response to receiving an incoming call in the silent mode, stop reproduction of a music file, and output an indication of the reception of the incoming call by vibration or without sound according to a setting of the silent mode, and while in the silent mode, control reproduction of a music file depending upon detection of a change of a connection state of an external audio output device.

    Abstract: An onscreen function execution method for a mobile terminal having a touchscreen is provided. The method allows for executing functions of an activated application by a tap on a specific area of the touchscreen. An onscreen function execution method of the present invention includes mapping active regions of the touchscreen to functions of at least one application, displaying an application screen in response to an application activation command and executing, if a tap is detected on one of the active regions, a function mapped to the application activation command. The active regions may include a function execution display region and the applications may comprise a camera application, a music player application, an idle mode screen application and the like. The method allows a user to execute functions of an activated application by tap on the touchscreen.

    Abstract: A mobile terminal with a function for setting an output volume of an audio signal to prevent acoustic shock is disclosed. In the mobile terminal, a receiver is integrated into a speaker. The speaker limits the initial output volume of an audio signal to a predetermined level. The mobile terminal provides a menu for setting an output volume of an audio signal. The menu enables a user to select either to maintain the currently limited volume level or to change to a volume level set for a speaker mode. Since an audio signal received with the connection of an incoming call is output at a predetermined reference volume level, acoustic shock caused by unexpectedly high-level of sound volume can be prevented.
