    Abstract: A data driver IC of a liquid crystal display is provided. The data driver IC includes: a shift register; a latch part in which input digital data are sampled by the shift register and stored, the latch part including a plurality of latches; a digital to analog converter and an amplifier for converting the sampled digital data into an analog signal and amplifying the analog signal; an analog signal supplying part for generating first and second analog voltages corresponding to a black signal level and a white signal level, respectively; a color conversion control signal supplying part for controlling whether to display the input digital data in full colors or 8-bit color; a selector for selecting and outputting one of the first analog voltage corresponding to the black signal level and the second analog voltage corresponding to the white signal level; and a multiplexer for receiving the output analog signal and transferring the output analog signal to a corresponding data line.

In the shift register, a plurality of stages are connected to each other in cascade and scanned in a bilateral direction. In the stages, a charger charges a first supply voltage into a first node in response to a clock signal. A scan direction controller is connected between the charger and the discharger to discharge the first node into a different path in response to a scan direction control signal. An output part outputs any one of said first and second supply voltages as an output signal in response to a voltage at the first node. A latch part latches said output signal using said output signal and a clock signal inverted from said clock signal to feed back the latched output signal to the first node.
