  • Patent number: 6230751
Abstract: A corrosion-resistant and fire-resistant pipe system suitable for sprinkler systems and the like in the offshore industry and also on military and civilian seagoing vessels, and generally as sprinkler systems in official buildings and in industrial buildings. The pipe system is characterized in that the pipe system includes rigid and cold-formable pipe sections (10) that have one or more tubular rubber layers (11, 13, 15) and reinforcement layers (12, 14) that surround or embrace one or more of the tubular rubber layers (11, 13, 15). The reinforcement layers are comprised of wires or ribbons that have been wound, braided, knitted or formed in some other way so as to cross each other, wherein each of the wires or ribbons defines with the longitudinal axis of the pipe section a winding or spiraling angle that imparts the greatest possible strength to the reinforced, tubular rubber layers (11, 13, 15).

  • Patent number: 6158476
Abstract: A pipe or hose (10) intended primarily for fire protection purposes and capable of withstanding high heat flux densities. The pipe or the hose has an internal, tubular rubber layer (11) and a casing (12) provided with holes which casing embraces the tubular rubber layer (11) in close contact therewith. The holes in the casing (12) are situated close together and have a limited cross-sectional area such that liquid transported in the pipe or hose (10) at a current liquid pressure above atmospheric pressure and through the medium of a nozzle effect in direct contact with the casing (12) and, subsequent to release from said casing contact, is able to form a free-standing liquid jet. When used in sprinkler systems or like fire extinguishing systems, the pipe or the hose will be imparted herewith self-sealing and self-protecting properties, and will withstand a heat flux density caused by a jet fire of up to about 500 kW/m.sup.

  • Patent number: 4267775
Abstract: The nose portion of a missile having a ram air turbine for driving an electric generator for supplying electric power to the electric circuits of the missile, especially of its fuse, is designed in a special manner in order to provide, at high missile speeds, a throttling of the air flow, whereby the speed of rotation of the turbine may be kept within reasonable limits. Thus, the air inlet is divided in a plurality of inlet ducts arranged as a wreath around the foward end of the missile. Further, the outlet openings are forwardly directed and co-operate with the shock waves from the acute forward end of the missile and from an annular edge surrounding the wreath of inlets but lying radially inside the outlet openings.

  • Patent number: 4248153
Abstract: In a combination fuze for missiles comprising a current generator which is driven by a ram air operated means having ram air supplied through an inlet in the nose portion of the missile and supplying electric energy to an electric firing circuit which comprises an electric detonator and means adapted to detonate the electric detonator before the missile reaches the target, and comprising a mechanical percussion switch adapted to cause detonation of the missile upon impingement of the missile against the target, the mechanical percussion switch comprises a sting sensitive detonator surrounded by a metal foil and a firing needle which is included in the electric firing circuit. Upon impact the relative movement between the firing needle and the sting sensitive detonator induces such a circuit configuration of the firing circuit that triggering of the electric detonator will take place.
