    Abstract: An apparatus and a method capable of maximally transferring energy generated from an energy harvester apparatus to an output terminal by optimizing an input impedance of an apparatus for extracting maximum power disposed between an energy harvester apparatus and an energy storage apparatus are disclosed. The method for extracting maximum power includes: detecting, by an apparatus for extracting maximum power disposed between the energy harvest apparatus and an energy storage apparatus, a magnitude in output current flowing in the energy storage apparatus; comparing a magnitude in current extracted from the energy harvester apparatus with a magnitude in current supplied to the energy storage apparatus when the magnitude in output current is a positive number; and determining whether an algorithm for extracting maximum power using the magnitude in current based on the comparison result is applied and extracting the maximum power depending on the determination result.

    Abstract: Disclosed are a security apparatus and a security system using millimeter-wave communications. The security apparatus comprises a sensing part comprising at least one sensor and providing a detection signal by detecting an intruder; a control part generating intruder detection information according to the provided detection signal; and a communication part transmitting an intruder detection signal including the intruder detection information through a millimeter-wave frequency band. Therefore, a wireless security system can be implemented easily only. Also, it can be made easy to install and manage a security system as compared to configuring a security system by using wired networks, and so installation cost of the security system may be reduced.

    Abstract: A hearing-aid apparatus using ultrasonic waves is inserted and mounted within an external auditory meatus of an ear, generates an ultrasonic wave band signal by single side band amplitude modulation of a sound signal that is received through a microphone, and outputs the ultrasonic wave band signal and a carrier signal that is used for single side band amplitude modulation as an ultrasonic wave signal to a transfer medium in a predetermined beam direction. Therefore, the ultrasonic wave signal forms a focal area in a damaged hearing organ area, the ultrasonic wave band signal is restored to a sound signal by nonlinear characteristics of a transfer medium in the focal area, and the damaged hearing organ detects the sound signal.

    Abstract: There are provided a wireless power transmission device using a frequency multiplier and a method thereof. The wireless power transmission device using the frequency multiplier includes a signal input unit configured to receive a first alternating current (AC) signal, a frequency multiplier configured to output a second AC signal having a higher frequency than the first AC signal using harmonic components of the first AC signal, and a power transmission unit configured to transmit power by receiving the second AC signal. Accordingly, a complex structure in which an AC signal is converted into a DC signal and the DC signal is converted into the AC signal again in order to generate the AC signal for the wireless power transmission can be simplified by the frequency multiplier. Moreover, it is possible to efficiently and wirelessly transmit low power required for ambient scattered sensor nodes.

    Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for transmitting sound waves in water. The method for transmitting sound waves in water includes generating a sound wave signal, and transmitting the sound wave signal in water, generating a compensation signal for preventing distortion due to water vibration in an audible frequency band, and simultaneously transmitting the compensation signal and the sound wave signal in water. Accordingly, an apparatus for receiving sound signals is not required, and direct contact between a human body and an apparatus for transmitting sound signals is not required, thereby improving convenience of use.
