  • Patent number: 6125193
Abstract: Method and system for the reduction of artifacts from high absorption objects, such as metal pins. From an image, such as a computed tomography image, an image of the high absorption object is extracted by thresholding. A boundary of the object in the image is estimated. This information is used to modify the projection data to reduce the artifacts due to the object. The projection data may be rebinned from fan beam to parallel beam. After the projection data is modified the parallel beam projection data is reconstructed and the high absorption object image previously extracted may be superimposed on the reconstructed image. The original, modified and superimposed images may be displayed and compared.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 1, 1998
Date of Patent: September 26, 2000
    Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba
    Inventor: Kyung S. Han
  • Patent number: 5308293
Abstract: A mechanical arrangement of multiple gears forming a transmission device for variable speed output and direction from a constant input source. The arrangement of multiple gears wherein the control of the output is determined by a selective incremental control input relative the constant input source. Combined arrangements of multiple gears utilize variable orbital paths control to determine variable output.

  • Patent number: 5169359
Abstract: A mechanical arrangement of multiple gears with an auxiliary control input for producing variable output from a constant input. The arrangement of multiple gears wherein the control input is a releasing input that determines a relative variable output from a constant source. Combined arrangements of multiple gears will derive a constant output from a variable source by a constant control input regardless of variations of input source.

  • Patent number: 5116292
Abstract: A mechanical transmission device for selective gear speed and directional output from a constant input source. A plurality of planetary gears engageable on a central input gear can be selectively driven on their own axis or orbitally around the central input gear varying output dependent on the speed of orbital rotation.

  • Patent number: 5016493
Abstract: A mechanical transmission device to provide selective gear speed output from a constant input. A variation gear affixed to an adjustable crank determines output speed of a free floating following gear and connecting rod assembly dependent on the relative orbit size of the variation gear as determined by the crank. The orbit size is adjusted by the angular inclination of the adjustable crank.
