  • Patent number: 6147879
Abstract: A flexible container and method for its manufacture, the container provided for housing an electronic device. e.g. a printed circuit board. The container has a laminate wall with a dielectric layer facing into a chamber defined by the container, and an EMI protection layer surrounding the dielectric layer. An opening is provided to the chamber to accept the electronic device and a wall region of the container holds electrically conductive elements which are isolated from each other and from the EMI protection layer. The conductive elements connect conductors on the inside of the chamber to conductors outside the container. The wall region is conveniently provided by a preformed panel which bridges a container aperture. An assembly of electronic device and container is also provided. A common opening may be provided for device acceptance and for location of the preformed panel.

  • Patent number: 6097613
Abstract: An assembly of an electronic device within a chamber defined by a flexible container. The device, which may be a printed circuit board, has signal terminals connected to elongate insulated signal conductors. These conductors pass through a laminate construction wall of the container for connection to an outside electrical conductor. The signal conductors are electrically isolated from an EMI protection layer which forms part of the laminate construction wall. A ground conductor extends through the wall and is separated from the wall by a dielectric spacer to provide a capacitive coupling between the EMI protection layer and the ground conductor. The capacitive coupling produces a desired capacitive effect for shorting certain electrical frequencies from the EMI protection layer to ground. Conveniently, a flat cable provides the signal and ground conductors and the cable extends through a sealed opening of the container.

  • Patent number: 6094361
Abstract: For economic, space-saving and simplicity in design, an assembly is provided of a printed circuit board and flexible container in which the board has an electrical connector mounted upon it, and the printed board and connector are positioned wholly within the container. The container is electrically connected to another connector exteriorly of the container by terminal pins extending through the container. Preferably the terminal pins extend through individual holes formed through the container by the force of the pins during engagement of the connectors. The pins are electrically isolated from an EMI protection layer in the container wall, but other pins may actually contact the EMI protection layer to provide a ground. A method of assembly is also described and, in addition, a mounting for a plurality of the assemblies.

  • Patent number: 6035513
Abstract: For economic reasons, space saving and simplicity in design, an assembly is provided of an electronic device and a flexible container with the electronic device inside the container and having electrical conductors extending from the chamber for connection to electrical equipment outside the container. To prevent overheating, the assembly also includes a heat transfer device. This device has a first heat conductive element-inside the chamber, and thermally connected to the electronic device, and a second heat conductive element disposed outside the container. The two heat conductive elements are fastened together with the wall of the container clamped between them for conduction of heat to the second element. To avoid forming apertures in the wall for connection purposes, the second heat conductive element is formed with channels at its edges which receive edges of the first element and with the wall in between and lying within the channels.

  • Patent number: 6028775
Abstract: An assembly of an electronic device inside a flexible container in which the device is held within a sealed chamber of the container. The electronic device, which may be a printed circuit board, has signal terminals which are connected to elongate insulated signal conductors. These conductors pass through a laminate construction wall of the container for connection to outside electrical conductors. The signal conductors are electrically isolated from an EMI protection layer which forms part of the laminate construction wall. A grounding device includes a ground element electrically connected to a ground conductor of the electronic device, the ground element being secured to the inside surface of the container provided by a dielectric inner layer. The ground element is thus in capacitive coupling with the EMI protection layer.

The ground conductor is electrically connected to the screwthread arrangement.

  • Patent number: 5657209
Abstract: A rigid cable clamp for holding cable in a bent condition, the clamp having two rigid members which when assembled make a curved cable passage to hold cable bent. One or both members is electrically conductive and presses against the bared cable shield to provide electrical continuity into the member. A slot is provided in the electrically conductive member for frictionally receiving a metal ground support for the clamp so as to ground the cable shield.
