  • Publication number: 20210296926
Abstract: Methods and devices optimize backup power management for network devices connected to backup power sources including two different batteries. Machine learning techniques are used to predict upcoming power outages affecting the network device based on power-related historic information and current conditions. • Patent number: 10985562
Abstract: Based on information from a controller scheduling data traffic in a processing arrangement, a super capacitor unit is activated, whereby reactive power is fed to a system bus of said power system. The controller is configured to have information at time t(n) about the data traffic workload of the processing arrangement at time t(n+1). By triggering discharge of the super capacitor unit based on super capacitor data at time t(n+1), transients on a system bus voltage are, at least in part, smoothed out at time t(n+1), which reduces the need for reactive power of the power system, where said transients are related to the data traffic workload of the processing arrangement. The power efficiency of the power system can be improved by 3-4% by the reduction of the need for reactive power from a power grid, for which reason the electrical bill of an operator is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20200233703
Abstract: An automated improving of quality of service of a data center. Transients of a power grid fed to a power supply unit are monitored by a probe. Information on transients is provided across an interface to a server of the data center. Based on characteristics of the transients, a reliability of the data center is subjected to automated updating. A request for migration of workload requiring a higher reliability than the updated reliability can be sent to a central management. When the central management has identified another data center that can meet the required reliability, the central management migrates or relocates the workload to the another data center.

  • Publication number: 20200177957
Abstract: Method performed by a first node (101). The method is for handling a digital media content. The first node (101) determines (203), automatically, a segment of the digital media content to be of interest to a first user of a second node (102) providing the digital media content to the first user. The determining (203) is based on an analysis of collected data on seeking of the digital media content by at least one second user. The seeking has been performed in points in time in the digital media content. The points in time have been freely chosen by the least one second user from an entire duration of the digital media content. The first node (101) then initiates (204) providing a first indication of the determined segment of the digital media content to be of interest to the first user, to at least one of: the second node (102), and another node (103, 104).

  • Publication number: 20200120595
Abstract: A method and power control unit for supplying electric power to a first radio unit of a network node in a wireless network. The power control unit obtains a scheduled power demand related to an amount of electric power required in the first radio unit for transmissions scheduled in an imminent time interval such as a resource block or subframe. Then, electric power is supplied to the first radio unit from a power supply unit if the power demand does not exceed a power threshold, or from the power supply unit and a supplementary power source if the power demand exceeds the power threshold. The supplementary power source may comprise a battery that can be connected or disconnected for successive time intervals depending on the scheduled power demand which may fluctuate greatly depending on the first radio unit's transmissions.
