  • Patent number: 5269048
Abstract: A hinge assembly capable of moving a panel or door between a flush, closed position and an outwardly opened position with at least 180 degrees of possible rotation of the panel. A housing is attached to the body at the edge of the door opening and locates a jack screw which drives a carriage in and out. On the carriage are located two idler shafts carrying fixed sprockets around which are wrapped a roller chain loop. The outer idler shaft is fixed to the panel and defines the hinge axis for the panel. One portion of the chain loop is fixed relative to the body such that, as the jack screw drives the hinge axis outwardly, the chain loop rotates the sprocket fixed to the outer idler shaft and the attached panel to an open position.

  • Patent number: 4296895
Abstract: A plurality of fins for a missile which are capable of being folded to conform to the general cylindrical contour of the missile body and which are biased to unfold to an erect position and which includes an interconnection mechanism for connecting all the fins together to ensure simultaneous erection and for distributing the erection moment of individual fins to all fins; said interconnection means further being capable of acting without interfering with the movement of the fins for flight control without need for disengagement after erection.

  • Patent number: 4091831
Abstract: A gas shut-off valve for utilization in private houses, public buildings, factories, or any other installation where gas is used and there is a probability of an earthquake. The valve is mounted on a solid base either part of the building or specifically provided for the valve. Inlet and outlet gas lines are connected to the valve body. Inside the valve body a ball is positioned on top of a circular support. The diameter of the support is proportional to the diameter of the ball and to a selected horizontal acceleration which is considered structurally damaging. When due to an earthquake the valve is accelerated horizontally beyond the selected value the ball will be unseated from its support and roll down an incline until it plugs the gas outlet hole. The ball can be repositioned on top of the support by a mechanism actuated from outside the valve.

  • Patent number: 3981463
Abstract: A thrust reverser for utilization with wing mounted jet powered aircraft discharging exhaust gases over the wings thereof. The jet engine is housed in a nacelle which is affixed to the forward part of the wing of the aircraft and the nacelle is appropriately contoured for connection to the wing to form part of the aerodynamic profile therewith. A blocker door in stowed condition is contiguous the wing and is similarly profiled. The blocker door is pivotable counterclockwise to a deployed condition wherein it intercepts the airstream before the exhaust gases are discharged through the nozzle. A deflector door is formed in the nacelle in the vicinity of the trailing edge thereof, and it is pivotable clockwise to its deployed condition in which it diverts the gases delivered to it by the blocker door. Separate hydraulic actuators, one associated with the nacelle structure, and one with the wing structure are employed to deploy and stow the blocker and deflector doors.
