  • Publication number: 20080003171
Abstract: This invention relates to methods and apparatus for achieving microbiological control, especially using active sources that generate hypochlorous acid vapor. These methods are effective in confined spaces and sealed containers. The active sources may be contained within permeable containers and may be actively dispersed. The active sources may be in the form of solids, liquids or gels.
    Type: Application
    Filed: February 23, 2007
    Publication date: January 3, 2008
Inventors: William Smith, Lachelle Arnt, Steven Bromberg, Nikhil Dani, Maha El-Sayed, Lafayette Foland, Diane Mellett, Jorge Robles, Kenneth Vieira
  • Publication number: 20070238634
Abstract: A substrate comprising a nonwoven layer containing an ionically crosslinked polymer can be used to control the release of active ingredients. The substrate can be a melamine foam and contain a surfactant and an alginate polymer crosslinked with calcium.
    Type: Application
    Filed: April 11, 2006
    Publication date: October 11, 2007
Inventors: Lafayette Foland, Mimi Lee, David Lestage, Sara Morales
  • Publication number: 20070191252
Abstract: A cleaning implement with a handle and a removable cleaning pad can be used to effectively clean surfaces. The cleaning pad is impregnated with an acidic cleaning composition. The cleaning pad may be dry to the touch. The cleaning implement may be a manual tool or a motorized tool. Examples of suitable cleaning implements include a hard surface floor mop, a carpet mop, an auto cleaning device, a toilet cleaning device, a bathroom cleaning device, and a shower cleaning device.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20070134127
Abstract: This invention relates to methods and apparatus for achieving microbiological control, especially using active sources that generate hypochlorous acid vapor with reduced levels of chlorine vapor. These methods are effective in confined spaces and sealed containers. The active sources may be contained within permeable containers and may be actively dispersed. The active sources may be in the form of solids, liquids or gels.

  • Publication number: 20060269441
Abstract: Described herein are nanoparticle silica Pickering emulsions comprising an aqueous suspension of colloidal silica mixed with a quaternary ammonium biocide. Additionally, the composition may include a small amount of organic solvent; such as methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, and mixtures thereof; wetting agents, such as a silicone-based wetting agent; and organic bases which act as solvent buffers, if it is desirable to raise the pH of the composition, such as monoethanolamine (MEA). The combination of nanoparticle silica and quaternary ammonium biocide provides food contact sanitization at less than 200 ppm of quaternary ammonium active.

  • Publication number: 20060128585
Abstract: A cleaning substrate with a relatively high level of antimicrobial agent, surfactant, and fragrance can be used to clean hard surfaces, including toilets, showers, and bathrooms. Suitable antimicrobial agents include quaternary ammonium compounds and biguanides. The cleaning substrate can be attached to a cleaning implement.
