  • Patent number: 8240520
Abstract: A method and apparatus for extruding viscous materials is provided. A dispenser comprises a control mechanism(s), a material containing structure and ports adapted to be coupled to a portable high-pressure gas source. A user controls a flow of the high-pressure gas with a control mechanism such as a trigger. The gas moves a piston inside the material containing structure and displaces viscous materials, such as an explosive, out of the structure through an output port or an output port coupled to a nozzle. A transparent materials tube may be provided to facilitate visual monitoring of the material flow. Localized and system wide pressure is controlled by structural design, material application on a structural component or control mechanisms to mitigate or eliminate a possibility of unintended effects from extrusion of the material including explosion due to overly high pressures between components of the extruder system.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 2, 2008
