    Abstract: A motor start switch includes a temperature responsive resistor element and a bimetal cutout switch electrically connected in series with a start winding of an electric motor. The cutout switch is operable between an open position disconnecting the temperature responsive resistor from the start winding, and a closed position electrically connecting the temperature responsive resistor to the start winding. The cutout switch transitions from the open position to the closed position due to current flowing through, and heating, a bimetal element in the cutout switch.
