  • Patent number: 6747749
Abstract: A method for reprinting a plurality of documents includes obtaining exceptions associated with multiple processed enclosing jobs. The method further includes creating a reprint job that includes documents corresponding to a portion of the exceptions, wherein the portion of the exceptions is associated with at least two of the processed enclosing jobs. A system for reprinting a plurality of documents is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6496810
Abstract: An ultra-heavy mail piece processing system first collects the data to be printed out and then formats the data for printing. A rendering process then determines how the mail piece will be printed. Based on the total number of pages in the mail piece, the system will direct mail pieces having a total number of pages equal to or greater than an upper bound to an ultra-heavy handling process. The data stream for each ultra-heavy mail piece is split into a data stream for the first page and a data stream for all the second pages for the mail piece. The data stream for each first page is sent to a printer for printing in one-up format. The data stream for each set of second pages is reformatted to allow the data stream for each set of second pages to be sent to and printed on a different printer from the first printer in a two-up format.

  • Patent number: 6256624
Abstract: The disclosure includes a computational system (110) that implements a method for controlling operation of report production facilities. The system (110) is particularly suited to efficiently operating a facility that prints mail pieces and inserts the mail pieces in envelopes for delivery by the U.S. Postal Service. In one implementation, the system (110) includes a main processor (112) that receives constituent data and sequentially stores the data in report recipient files (116). The main processor (112) is utilized to process the stored data to create relational database files (118, 120). The database files (118, 120) include index fields which facilitate tracking and sorting of the data based in part upon postal rates, report lengths, and other distribution and production criteria. The main processor (112) may then be operated to create report output files (160) to be used by a report production facility (160) in printing and inserting the mail pieces.

  • Patent number: 5895478
Abstract: A method is disclosed for using a computer to provide justification of a plurality of characters and fonts in a plurality of text strings within a document from a document system library. Document files from a document system library are obtained and relevant information is transferred to a dBase II relational database. Character and font information for each character in a text string is identified so that the location and length of a text string can be determined. The text string is then manipulated as required for a desired justification.

  • Patent number: 5893129
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for reproducing a set of documents and the characters and fonts in each document, which includes, storing each document in a print file; creating an index file for each of the documents, containing a location of the document in the print file; creating a resource file containing directions on how to print the characters and fonts in the print file; requesting one or more documents for reprinting; combining the print file associated with each document for reprinting and the corresponding resource file to produce an output file; and reprinting one or more documents from the output file so that each character and font in each document can be reproduced.

  • Patent number: 5745590
Abstract: A method for generating a plurality of mail pieces including error detection and reprinting capabilities. The method provides a mail handling process which tracks processing errors with the use of a first and second scan code which obtain information regarding each mail piece, diverts mail pieces in response to an error detection, transmits such errors to a processor, and automatically generates a reconfigured print file to initiate reprints for the diverted mail pieces.
