  • Patent number: 9258455
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention disclose a method for K-only (gray/black) object rendering in a high-speed color controller of a printing system. The method includes setting a flag to indicate selection of a K-only text and barcode print preference from a user of a print system, receiving one or more objects to be printed by the print system, the one or more objects including at least one of a text object and a barcode object, determining whether an input color space for the at least one text object and barcode object should be converted to K-only black ink, and rendering the at least one of the text object and the barcode object as K-only black ink if the input color space is determined to be converted to K-only black ink.

  • Patent number: 8693059
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for printer controller, dynamic N-UP print job imaging. An enhanced printer includes features hereof to dynamically adjust parameters of a print job at any point in a print job. In one aspect hereof, the printer configures a print job for an initial set of printing parameters without host system intervention and may reconfigure those parameters during printing of the print job. In another aspect hereof, the adjustments may include adjusting the relative position of any of the N-UP images independent of any other of the N-UP images. Another aspect hereof provides that the formatting of the print job according to printing parameters by the printer occurs after rasterizing the print job into logical page images. Since the formatting is performed after rasterizing, the printing parameters may be changed at any time during printing of the print job.

  • Patent number: 8115979
Abstract: An International Color Consortium (ICC) profile making tool includes a regression module to establish a dependency between a profile connection space (PCS) and a device color space and an optimization module to generate a first output profile based on an ink minimization mode and a second output profile based on a high accuracy mode.

  • Publication number: 20080055621
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for improved dispatching of sheetsides in a high-speed (e.g., continuous form) printing environment using multiple, clustered processors in a print controller. Features and aspects hereof generate, update, and utilize a mathematical model of multiple processors (compute nodes) each adapted to RIP (rasterize) raw sheetside data provided to it. A head node or control processor receives the raw sheetside files from an attached host or server, determines current processing capacity of each of the multiple compute nodes to RIP the next sheetside, and dispatches the sheetside to the compute node identified as providing the minimum RIP completion time. Various conditions may invalidate a compute node from further consideration in dispatch of a particular sheetside. Thus a valid compute node is selected based on the minimum RIP completion time.

  • Publication number: 20080037053
Abstract: A printer system and method of managing the printer system. Printer sub-systems can register indicating system parameter affecting or, affected by, each. The printer is monitored for change requests to system parameters and, printer sub-systems are selectively notified of a requested parameter changes. Notified printer sub-systems respond indicating a time to apply each parameter change. Unless changes can be applied immediately, a change notification is displayed, requesting operator intervention and indicating a time for the intervention.

  • Publication number: 20030088642
Abstract: A computer controlled device, such as a networked printer, that incorporates a HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) browser as the operator control device. The computer controlled device already incorporates an HTTP server to allow remote control of the device from other computers or devices on the network. The incorporation of an HTTP browser allows reuse of the HTTP server software as the front panel controls driver, obviating the requirement for the development and maintenance of an independent software module to drive the front panel controls.
