  • Patent number: 4793376
Abstract: A portable, recoilable garden hose system is disclosed that stores, protects, and cleans a variety of conventional hoses. A housing defines a sealed, inner chamber in which a reel rotates on a shaft to wind and unwind the hose. A band spring and brake mechanism control the reel's rotation and are also enclosed inside the housing, although a brake knob used to activate the brake system is conveniently located outside the housing. The system also includes a pipe structure for carrying water from an outside faucet to the hose fitting within the housing. Outside the housing, the system includes a support bracket for mounting the housing and fixing the shaft within the housing. The lower end of this support bracket can be mounted in the ground, on vehicles, or on other supports.
