Publication number: 20170254066Abstract: A crane-free system for moving a pre-fabricated enclosure includes a beam system and a system of coordinated self-contained hydraulic jack units, which in conjunction allow a pre-fabricated enclosure to be lifted off a semi-trailer, positioned by rolling on the system of beams above a pre-laid foundation, and lowered to the foundation. Optionally, the sliding beam system may be rotated using rotatable rollers to allow the pre-fabricated enclosure to move in a rotated direction. Optionally, a centering device and hydraulic ram may be used to center the pre-fabricated enclosure on the foundation.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 1, 2017Publication date: September 7, 2017Inventors: Larry Smith, Gary Pennala

Publication number: 20170248688Abstract: The present application describes a method including transmitting at least two radar signals by a radar unit of a vehicle, where a first signal is transmitted from a first location and a second signal is transmitted from a second location. The method also includes receiving a respective reflection signal associated with each of the transmitted signals. Additionally, the method includes determining, by a processor, at least one stationary object that caused a reflection. Further, the method includes based on the determined stationary object, determining, by the processor, an offset for the radar unit. The method yet further includes operating the radar unit based on the determined offset. Furthermore, the method includes controlling an autonomous vehicle based on the radar unit being operated with the determined offset.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 26, 2016Publication date: August 31, 2017Inventors: Timothy Campbell, Larry Smith

Patent number: 9482021Abstract: A non-crane system for moving a pre-fabricated enclosure is disclosed. The system comprises a sliding beam system and a system of coordinated self-contained hydraulic jack units, which in conjunction allow a pre-fabricated enclosure to be slid horizontally off a semi-trailer, positioned above a pre-laid foundation, and lowered to the foundation. Slide beams are arranged perpendicularly to the semi-trailer and supported by blocks at the height of the pre-fabricated enclosure. A cable attachment plate located on each slide beam connects to the pre-fabricated enclosure and is connected by a cable to winches placed at the end of each slide beam. The rotation of the winches pulls the pre-fabricated enclosure off the semi-trailer and onto the sliding beam system. The system of coordinated self-contained hydraulic jack units, which comprises multiple portable self-contained hydraulic jack units, then lowers the pre-fabricated enclosure to the foundation.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 2014Date of Patent: November 1, 2016Assignee: NORTHERN STAR INDUSTRIES, INC.Inventors: Larry Smith, Andy Thom, Jon Walimaa, Erik Peterson, Andrew Janczy, Dave Brule, Sr.

Patent number: 9326398Abstract: An electronic sign includes a planar lighting module emitting visible light. A cabinet supportingly engages the lighting module. An air chamber is between the cabinet and the lighting module. A vertical partition is within the air chamber and extends between a bottom wall and a top wall of the cabinet, and between the lighting module and a rear wall of the cabinet. The partition divides the air chamber into first and second sections. An electric fan is within the cabinet and transfers air from the first to the second section. The cabinet and/or the lighting module include a plurality of throughholes fluidly interconnecting the air chamber to ambient air. A first subset of the throughholes are more closely fluidly connected to the first section than to the second section. A second subset of the throughholes are more closely fluidly connected to the second section than to the first section.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2015Date of Patent: April 26, 2016Assignee: WatchFire Signs, LLCInventors: Ryan Messmore, Byron Hall, Larry Smith, Jeff Koebrich

Patent number: 9312636Abstract: A power distribution assembly including a seating tray and a device coupled to the seating tray and at least partially fixed relative to the seating tray. The device defines a first channel and a second channel. The device has a mechanical advantage system in communication with the first and second channels. The power distribution assembly includes a housing selectively coupled to the seating tray and an extension affixed to the housing and movably disposed in the second channel of the device. The extension engages the mechanical advantage system. A power distribution assembly includes an actuator movably disposed in the first channel of the device. The actuator engages the mechanical advantage system. The actuator is movable in a first direction to actuate the mechanical advantage system and translate movement of the actuator to movement of the extension with the housing moving toward the seating tray during the movement of the extension.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2014Date of Patent: April 12, 2016Assignee: AEES, INC.Inventors: Alexander T. Publication number: 20150319947Abstract: An aeroponic root system comprises a plant cell having a first root chamber coupled to a second root chamber. A perforated divider may be disposed between the first root chamber and the second root chamber. In some examples, a fluid delivery system may convey water, nutrients, oxygen (e.g., purified oxygen gas), and/or carbon dioxide to the plant according to corresponding delivery schedules. For instance, water and oxygen may be conveyed into the first and second root chambers via a main supply line. Carbon dioxide may be conveyed to a base of the plant via a carbon dioxide delivery ring. In some instances, the delivery schedules may be determined by a type of the plant and/or a growth stage of the plant.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 9, 2014Publication date: November 12, 2015Inventor: Larry Smith
