  • Patent number: 9719760
Abstract: The invention relates to a fin deployment mechanism (1) comprising a base unit (3), deployable fins (8) movably arranged on the base unit (3) and, in the retracted position, bearing against the base unit (3), as well as a gas-generating device, in which the fins in the retracted position are fixed to the base unit, and in which at least one gas duct (6, 7) is arranged in the base unit (3) so as to conduct pressurized gas generated by the gas-generating device to the bottom side of the fins (8), which in the retracted position bear against the base unit (3), in order to create a force which acts on the fins (8) for deployment of the same (8?). The invention further relates to an artillery projectile comprising a fin deployment mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20160252333
Abstract: A fin deployment mechanism for a projectile. The mechanism includes at least one fin and at least one actuator. The fin is arranged in a deployable and retractable manner on the projectile. The fin and at least one balance weight are arranged so that, when the fin is deployed, the weight is displaced towards a center of the projectile and, when the fin is retracted, the weight is displaced from the center of the projectile. A method for deploying and retracting fins on a projectile. At least one fin is arranged in a deployable and retractable manner on the projectile. The fin is fitted to at least one balance weight such that when the fin is displaced from the center of the projectile the weight is displaced towards the center, and when the fin is displaced towards the center of the projectile the weight is displaced from the center.

  • Publication number: 20140083320
Abstract: The invention relates to a projectile (6) provided with a slipping rotating band (1) which is designed for firing from a weapon system with a rifled barrel. The rotating band (1) comprises an inner ring (2) and an outer ring (3) that seals against the barrel. The outer ring is fitted on the outer surface of the inner ring and the inner ring is slippably fitted on the projectile. The rotating band (1) is configured to remain fitted on the projectile (6) from launcher to target by virtue of the fact that the inner ring (2) is made of fibre-reinforced polymer composite or particle-reinforced polymer composite, or fibre-reinforced metal matrix composite or particle-reinforced metal matrix composite. The invention also relates to a slipping rotating band (1) and to a method for producing a slipping rotating band (1) in which the outer ring (3) is affixed to the inner ring (2).

  • Patent number: 7350449
Abstract: The subject invention concerns a method and a device enabling said packed countermass material (11) to open up said countermass packagings (10) in relation to the firing of countermass weaponry. The basic concept for the subject invention is, thus, that one near the rear outlet end (12) of a countermass weapon (1) barrel fashion a number of blades (15) to the interior of the outlet that protrude inwardly into the barrel sufficiently so as to cut into said countermass container (10), which is pressed past said blades (15) upon firing said weapon (1).

  • Patent number: 6971299
Abstract: The subject invention concerns a general method of producing countermass weaponry and is based on the use of a high-pressure system and a low-pressure system with a countermass (12, 26, 26?, 38) acting against the low-pressure system. The high-pressure system (7, 23, 23?, 36) shall, in practice, be formed by the combustion chamber for the weapon propellant charges (8, 22, 22?, 35) while the main part of the low-pressure system (25, 25?) shall, in initial stages, be formed by the storage and acceleration chamber for the countermass. The advantage of the subject invention is that said invention offers a possibility of achieving lower pressure levels around the grunner without, for such an end, diminishing the range of the weapon (1, 13).
