  • Patent number: 6839572
Abstract: The invention relates to a control device for a transmitter/receiver module in an antenna for receiving and transmitting electromagnetic signals, which transmitter/receiver module can be set to different settings with regard to the phase angle of the transmitted/received signal and at least one additional transmission/reception function. The control device comprises means for generating control pulses, and a plurality of storage means that can be activated and controlled by the control device, and in the storage means control information for the module's different functions is stored in different groups in order to be able to generate different states of the module. The storage means also contain information about the identity of each storage means, the number of times that the states according to the groups in the storage means are to be assumed, and which storage means is to be activated thereafter.

  • Patent number: 6643500
Abstract: Distortion is reduced in a radiocommunications system in which a radio signal is received with a carrier frequency with a group antenna. The group antenna includes at least two receiver channels with an antenna element and components for amplifying and processing the respective signal. A first phase shift by a predetermined value is performed directly after reception of the signal in the respective channel. A second phase shift by a value is performed which corresponds to the first phase shift but in the opposite direction. In this manner, distortion which arises as a result of, for example, non-linearities in an antenna array, is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6636726
Abstract: A method and apparatus for radio communication are presented. The method employs an antenna having multiple transceivers, each capable for receiving a part-signal of a signal received by the antenna. The phase and amplitude of the part-signals are modulated with a code that corresponds to the part-signal. The part-signals are then digitally processed using an analog-to-digital converter, and then demodulated with a demodulation code that is an inverse of the modulation code. The demodulated signal is then divided into separable part-signals which correspond to different reception patterns of the antenna.

  • Patent number: 5631646
Abstract: Method for determination of time errors in connection with analogue-digital conversion of quadrature detected signals by feeding a special, periodically repeated signal, the frequency of which is changed during each period, to the device whose time errors are to be determined. The special signal is quadrature detected, whereby two quadrature components (I and Q) are formed. The quadrature components are sampled and the samples are converted to digital form, whereby each of the quadrature components are sampled at at least two fixed points of time for each period of the special signal. The samples from a number of periods of the special signal related to the fixed points of time are Fourier transformed in order to generate spectra in which expressions are contained which describe both the fundamental tone of the special signal and its image tone.

  • Patent number: 5596323
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for reducing the influence from distortion which is produced when an electrical signal, which is divided into two components, is converted from analogue to digital form. The signal is divided in a phase detector in which it is phase detected with respect to two reference signals, phase shifted 90.degree. with respect to each other. The two components are frequency coded by the reference signals which are provided with a periodic frequency sweep. After the conversion into digital form, each of the components are frequency decoded so that they, with respect to frequency, appear as narrow band signals while possible harmonics which are part of the distortion, are distributed over a frequency range defined by the size of the periodic frequency sweep.

  • Patent number: 5576665
Abstract: A method and a device for changing the phase of a generated signal by a predetermined value in a device for frequency generation. In the device for frequency generation, the generated signal is phase-locked to a reference signal where non-integer multiples of the frequency of the generated signal may be phase-locked to the reference signal by changing the phase of each of the periods of the reference signal by a value which determines the frequency of the generated signal. The phase is changed by a phase-shifter. The change of the phase of the generated signal is made by controlling the phase-shifter so that no change of the phase of the reference signal is made during at least one period of the reference signal.
